After winning a Critic\u2019s Choice Award for her turn in\u00a0<em><strong>Watchmen<\/strong><\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>and her recent Emmy nominations\u00a0for the hilarious\u00a0<em><strong>Hacks\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>and the chilling\u00a0<em><strong>Mare of Easttown<\/strong><\/em>, everything is coming up Smart. Smart is brilliant at snark, so the role sounds absolutely perfect for her talents.<\/p>\n<p>Smart will be joined by an all-star cast that includes\u00a0<strong>Margot Robbie<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Brad Pitt<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Diego Calva<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jovan Adepo<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Li Jun Li<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Katherine Waterson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Olivia Wilde<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Spike Jonze<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Phoebe Tonkin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tobey Maguire<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Max Minghella<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lukas Haas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rory Scovel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Samara Weaving<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eric Roberts<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>P.J. I told you it a was a stacked cast!<\/p>\n<p>The film is set in the late 1920s during the movie industry\u2019s transition from silent films to talkies. It will follow the rise and fall of multiple characters, which tracks given the absolutely massive cast. Shooting began in Los Angeles last week.<\/p>\n<p>Smart is one of the only cast members whose role has been revealed. After catching everyone\u2019s attention with her big blue friend as the Silk Spectre on HBO\u2019s\u00a0<em>Watchmen<\/em>, she started showing up all over the small screen. She\u2019s nominated for both a Best Actress and a Best Supporting Actress Emmy this year, for two different shows! She\u2019s won three Emmys previously, with 9 additional nominations over the years.<\/p>\n<p>There are few actors working today who can hold space like Smart. She has a commanding presence and a voice that cuts to the bone. She\u2019s absolutely brilliant in everything she\u2019s in, from\u00a0<em><strong>Designing Women<\/strong><\/em> in the 1980s to\u00a0<em><strong>Frasier<\/strong><\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>in the \u201990s, all the way up to the third season of FX\u2019s\u00a0<em><strong>Fargo<\/strong><\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>just a few years ago. If she isn\u2019t already being asked to be in just about every new project, she should be.<\/p>\n<p>To catch Smart (and the rest of that cast!) in\u00a0<em>Babylon<\/em>, you\u2019ll have to wait until it hits theaters in about a year and a half.
