One small step for a billionaire, one giant leap for outrageously wealthy space tourists: Jeff Bezos has got the OK for his onanistic flight to space.<\/p>\n

Bezo\u2019s rocket company, Blue Origin, has got the rubber stamp from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to take humans to space \u2014 and the Amazon founder has bagged a seat on the first trip<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The magnate\u2019s mission is, of course, all about helping humanity to survive<\/a>. After doing so much to destroy life on Earth<\/a>, it\u2019s only right that he now reaches for the stars.<\/p>\n

With outstanding generosity, Bezos is even letting us mere Earth-dwellers watch his trip from home, while we wait for permission to travel freely across Earth. If all goes to plan, Bezos will claim the not-so-illustrious title of \u201csecond billionaire in space.\u201d Space\u00a0rival Richard Branson pipped the Amazon kingpin to the finishing line of the ego race on Sunday \u2014 although the brash Brit\u2019s gold medal remains disputed.<\/p>\n

Blue Origin suggested<\/a> Branson will forever have an asterisk next to his name, as his flight didn\u2019t surpass the \u201cinternationally recognized\u201d K\u00e1rm\u00e1n line that defines the start of space\u00a0at 100km above sea level. Branson did, however, pass NASA\u2019s benchmark for\u00a0conferring astronaut wings.<\/p>\n
