Courteney Cox can breathe a sigh of relief. The actress, 57, known for playing Monica Geller on \u201cFriends,\u201d has finally gotten an Emmy nomination for the series<\/a> \u2014 17 years after its finale.<\/p>\n

Until now, every other \u201cFriends\u201d cast member had received at least one nomination from the Television Academy for achievements in acting. The NBC series received 62 Primetime Emmy nominations during its 10-year-long run.<\/p>\n

This year, the HBO Max \u201cFriends: The Reunion\u201d special is up for four golden statuettes, including Best Special, Pre-Recorded<\/a>. Because Cox served as a producer on the special, alongside the rest of her former castmates and the show\u2019s creators, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, Cox is technically nominated in that category.<\/p>\n

Cox celebrated the win by sharing the announcement on Instagram and crediting her castmates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one where we are incredibly grateful to the Academy for this honor and especially thankful for\u00a0@mrbenwinston\u00a0and his entire team for their outstanding achievement,\u201d she wrote on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Cox\u2019s female co-stars on \u201cFriends,\u201d Lisa Kudrow, 57, and Jennifer Aniston, 52, have both gotten multiple nominations for the sitcom and each won, Kudrow for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Aniston for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. All three of her male co-stars received at least one nomination for the comedy series.<\/p>\n

Cox said on \u201cThe Howard Stern Show\u201d last month that watching all of her castmates receive nominations \u201cdefinitely hurt my feelings.\u201d \u201cI was happ<\/a>y for everybody, and then when it was finally like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m the only one,\u2019 it hurt,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Despite the award show not recognizing Cox\u2019s talent, the actress was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2010 as well as several other awards for her leading role in ABC\u2019s \u201cCougar Town\u201d as Jules Cobb, a divorced suburban wine-mom. Cox said being nominated helped soften the blow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only thing that made me feel good \u2014 because they\u2019ve all won and they\u2019ve gotten so many accolades \u2014 I got nominated for \u2018Cougar Town\u2019 the first year \u2014 a Golden Globe,\u201d she told Howard Stern. \u201cAnd I want to say, \u2018Oh, who cares?\u2019 [But] it meant everything to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said that she stills gets excited seeing her former castmates working on their own projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want them to win,\u201d Cox said. \u201cI just sometimes want to be included in certain things.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFriends: The Reunion\u201d was adored by die-hard fans of the original show. The hour-and-44-minute special features the six lead actors reminiscing about scenes along with a re-creation of one of the episode\u2019s iconic trivia game<\/a>s. They also bring on celebrities and fans alike to share how much the show has impacted the world. Insider<\/a> reported that there were more HBO Max sign-ups in anticipation of the special than for any of the streaming services\u2019 Warner Bros. new movies in 2021.<\/p>\n

Fans of \u201cFriends\u201d can root for television\u2019s most beloved clean freak during the award show on Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
