Strangely, the more elements they contain \u2014 from pickles to mustard to onions to olives \u2014 the less they taste of anything.<\/p>\n<p>Poor Subway is under siege on all fronts. It closed thousands of stores worldwide in 2020. Oven-roasted turkey is \u201csliced deli thin,\u201d but the flavor\u2019s even thinner, tasting more like paper than poultry.<\/p>\n<p>Hickory-smoked bacon on both sandwiches was a gristly, flavorless affair beyond rescue by a smear of smashed avocado.\u00a0The only redeeming element was decent mozzarella from \u201caward-winning cheesemakers in Wisconsin,\u201d once I found it beneath a heap of spinach, gummy sauces and laughably lame tomato slices.<\/p>\n<p>As for\u00a0the controversial \u201cpremium 100 percent wild-caught tuna\u201d: A New York Times laboratory investigation early this year found that it contained zero percent tuna DNA.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer groups filed lawsuits.
