You can choose between Amazon Ember, Baskerville, Bookerly, Caecilia, Caecilia Condensed, Futura, Helvetica, OpenDyslexic, and Palatino. You can also add your own custom fonts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bold<\/strong> controls how thick each character is. There are five different levels of boldness.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Size<\/strong> controls how big each character is. Your Kindle goes up to 14.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-734660 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/3layoutoptions.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Choose your preferred layout options\" width=\"650\" height=\"382\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>To control how the text is laid out on the page, tap \u201cLayout.\u201d Again, you have a few choices:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Orientation<\/strong> lets you decide whether you want to read in landscape or portrait mode.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Margins<\/strong> lets you decide how much white space there is around the edge of the page. There are three levels of it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alignment<\/strong> lets you choose between justified, where words are spaced out so that they take up the whole width of the page, and left-aligned, where words are all equally spaced and only aligned along the left margin.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Spacing<\/strong> determines how much white space is between each line. There, you\u2019ll find things like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>whether to show the time left in the chapter, the time left in the book, the page number, the Kindle location, or nothing in the bottom-left corner.<\/li>\n<li>whether to show the clock.<\/li>\n<li>whether books mentioned in the text should automatically link to Amazon.<\/li>\n<li>whether or not to see popular highlights.<\/li>\n<li>a few similar options.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By combining the different options from the Font and Layout menus (and to a lesser extent, the More menu), you can completely customize how books look on your Kindle.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Saving_Settings_as_a_Custom_Theme\"><\/span>Saving Settings as a Custom Theme<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you like to swap between a few different text looks depending on what you\u2019re reading, you can save each set of preferences as a custom theme.<\/p>\n<p>Use the Font, Layout, and More menus to set things up as you like, and then tap \u201cThemes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-734662 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/5themes.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Tap Save Current Settings to create a custom theme in Kindle\" width=\"650\" height=\"450\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Kindle has four built-in themes: Compact, Standard, Large, and Low Vision.
