A dog owner feared the worst after an autocorrect fail resulted in them receiving a shockingly morbid text from their pet groomer.<\/p>\n

An employee who works at the groomer uploaded a screenshot of the communication mishap with the unnamed pet owner on Reddit Tuesday<\/a> with the caption, \u201cStartlingly matter of fact message from the groomer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pooch parent app<\/a>arently dropped off their pet beagle, Dexter, at the groomer for an updated \u2018do. Once Dexter was well-coifed, the pet specialist alerted his parent around 10 a.m., \u201cHi Dexter is dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the employee realized their grave blunder, and desperately sent a subsequent text to clarify what they meant: \u201cHi dexter is ready now!! Sorry stupid auto correct.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rueful groomer also sent a photo of the owner\u2019s newly sheared canine, presumably to prove that Dexter was, in fact, alive and well. \u201cHe\u2019s had a great time,\u201d they wrote in a follow-up message. <\/p>\n

Go figure: Reddit had a field day with the autocorrect fiasco, with many joking that Dexter had indeed died and that the groomer was trying to throw the owner off the scent of the crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat 3-minute taxidermy job has to be some kind of record,\u201d quipped one macabre commenter about the apocryphal cover-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cWeekend at Beagles,\u201d replied another, referencing the 1989 Ted Kotcheff comedy \u201cWeekend at Bernie\u2019s,\u201d in which two ne\u2019er-do-well workers are forced to pretend that their deceased employer is still living.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, one dog lover put a more positive spin on the situation, writing: \u201cYour dog is dead\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..tired after the wonderful day he\u2019s had!\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time a text editor fail has hilariously given someone the wrong impression. In December, a Wisconsin woman\u2019s text to her father sparked a full-blown police investigation after it autocorrected to say she was being \u201cstabbed\u201d \u2014 instead of \u201cswabbed\u201d for COVID-19.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
