Gayfryd Steinberg once ruled New York\u2019s \u201980s Nouvelle Society with her late husband, corporate raider Saul Steinberg \u2014 before they sold their 740 Park Ave. home to Blackstone\u2019s Stephen Schwarzman and auctioned some of their most prized possessions. <\/p>\n

She is now married to Vanity Fair writer Michael Shnayerson, hiking in the Swiss Alps, looking as glamorous as ever \u2014 and has finally sold her Upper East Side townhouse. <\/p>\n

The price \u2014 $11.6 million, according to property records<\/a> \u2014 is far less than the $18.75 million she asked for just last year. <\/p>\n

The five-story, 20-foot-wide brownstone is at 46 E. 73rd St. <\/p>\n

At 8,310 square feet, it comes with five bedrooms and 5\u00bd bathrooms. <\/p>\n

Steinberg bought the townhouse<\/a> in 2002 for $5.3 million from art collector Donald Rubell. <\/p>\n

The formal townhouse opens with a foyer that leads into a gallery with an open spiral staircase. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s an eat-in chef\u2019s kitchen that faces the street, with stairs leading to a renovated basement. <\/p>\n

Striking features include a dining room with bookshelves and an open, double-height ceiling. The dining room also opens to a square, formal garden. <\/p>\n

The parlor floor boasts a double library lined with books and a woodburning fireplace, along with an atrium with a skylight and an iron-and-brass railing around an open section above the ground floor dining room, along with large windows overlooking the garden. <\/p>\n
