“#Britney Spears’ ‘Main Goal’ With New Lawyer Is NOT To End Conservatorship

\nWith all the big moves happ<\/a>ening in Britney Spears<\/strong>\u2018\u00a0legal battle, the end of her conservatorship feels closer than ever. It just may not be the next step.<\/p>\n

For the first time in years, we know exactly what Britney wants, in her own words. Thanks to her court testimony back in June, we have a list of objectives that the pop star wants taken care of: control over her reproductive choices, the ability to drive around alone with her boyfriend, being able to hire her own lawyer, getting rid of her dad\u2019s legal hold, and of course, ending the conservatorship once and for all.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, a major item has been checked off the list, which should help get the others done. On Wednesday, the court allowed her to hire former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart<\/strong>. A source for Us Weekly<\/em> dished:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe did her own research on her new lawyer but he also came highly, highly recommended by someone. She was thrilled with the scope of what he does. She\u2019s looking forward to working closely with Mathew.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Another insider for People<\/em> agreed that \u201cshe\u2019s really happy and excited that she has new representation,\u201d saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe feels like she\u2019s finally heading towards ending this.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But \u201cending this\u201d isn\u2019t the Lucky<\/em> artist\u2019s next step, believe it or not. Instead, the Us<\/em> source indicated her \u201cpriority\u201d is to \u201cget rid of\u201d her dad as the conservator of her estate. They revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s 100 percent about wanting to charge her father. That\u2019s the next move. \u2026 She wants him gone, period.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The People<\/em> source concurred:<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s her main goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s not a complete surprise to hear that the mother of two has her sights set on Jamie Spears<\/strong> first and foremost. For one thing, it will presumably be a lot easier to end the conservatorship with him out of the way. But removing him from power is also a deeply personal issue for Britney. At Wednesday\u2019s hearing, she accused the court of \u201callowing my dad to ruin my life.\u201d She declared:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to get rid of my dad and charge him for conservatorship abuse. I want an investigation on my dad. I\u2019m here to press charges \u2026 I\u2019m angry, and I will go there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And in an encouraging sign, Rosengart has already begun his offensive against the Spears patriarch, confirming that his team \u201cwill be moving promptly and aggressively for [Jamie\u2019s] removal.\u201d While addressing the court, he reportedly questioned:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know why Jamie Spears doesn\u2019t resign today. He purports to love his daughter and his daughter has repeatedly asked him to step down. So I\u2019m going to give him the opportunity right now to voluntarily resign. \u2026 Does anybody really believe Mr. Spears\u2019s continued involvement is in the best interest of Britney Spears?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But Jamie isn\u2019t going down that easy: his lawyer reportedly stated \u201cin no uncertain terms that they had no intentions of resigning\u201d (per The Cut<\/em>). Not so surprising that he\u2019s clinging on, considering this is the guy who made a habit of yelling \u201cI am Britney Spears.\u201d We\u2019ll ALL be popping bottles when they finally show him the door!<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the Us<\/em> source shared the singer is feeling \u201ca tremendous amount of relief and [optimism]\u201d after the \u201cgigantic\u201d win in court on Wednesday. They explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good day for her yesterday. She said, \u2018I\u2019m getting what I want, finally.\u2019 She\u2019s super relieved and happy. Let\u2019s just say she had a good night\u2019s sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The insider added:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s heading in the direction she wants. \u2026 She\u2019s very optimistic and very realistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We\u2019re so thrilled for Britney that changes are finally being made. We hope the next few months bring about even more positive results.<\/p>\n
