<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       As the economy continues to reopen and recover from the coronavirus pandemic, the debate over remote work vs. in-office work continues. But new data shows working from home could be here to stay for a lot of high earners.<\/p>\n<p> For the first time, there are more job listings with six-figure salaries for remote roles than there are for jobs in any city in North America, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theladders.com\/career-advice\/here-are-some-of-the-highest-paying-remote-work-jobs-hiring-now\" class=\"icon none\">according to jobs site Ladders<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Ladders, which analyzes data from 50,000 North American employers each week, found that there are more than 80,000 remote jobs paying at least $100,000. San Francisco is the runner-up, with roughly 69,000 remote six-figure jobs. Rounding out the top five are New York with nearly 65,000, Boston with more than 40,000 and Washington, D.C., with nearly 37,000 six-figure jobs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more:<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>Who wins and loses in the return to the office \u2014 and how to avoid a \u2018diversity crisis\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Historically, cities like San Francisco, New York and D.C. have <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2020\/02\/26\/us-cities-with-most-six-figure-salary-jobs\/\" class=\"icon none\">had the most high-paying jobs<\/a> available. Telecommuting now overtaking these cities is just another way in which the pandemic has altered the way we work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If remote work continues post-pandemic, as it likely could, commercial real estate could <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/travel-travel-coronavirus-pandemic-economy-b9ca580ae39bc071c05c745f17199625\" class=\"icon none\">take a hit.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>See also: <\/strong><strong>Do you feel unsafe going to work because of COVID-19? Here are your options<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some companies are trying hybrid-work models, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/09\/23\/google-ceo-sundar-pichai-considering-hybrid-work-from-home-models.html\" class=\"icon none\">including Google<\/a><br \/>\n        GOOGL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202490156\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.03%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       where employees work from the office part of the week and from home during the rest. With 63% of companies preferring a hybrid model, it could be the winner moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>Critics argue there are downsides to remote work, though. But, the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/06\/23\/upshot\/remote-work-innovation-office.html\" class=\"icon none\">New York Times reports<\/a>, there is no evidence to support that claim.
