Uber balked, saying that sharing such information would be a \u201cshocking violation\u201d of victims\u2019 privacy.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement with California\u2019s Public Utilities Commission, Uber will give $9 million to a state victim\u2019s fund, pay a $150,000 fine and help draft rideshare industry safety and reporting standards instead of paying the original fine, the groups said in a Thursday regulatory filing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been able to find a path forward that preserves the privacy and agency of sexual assault survivors,\u201d said Tony West,\u00a0Uber\u2019s chief legal officer, in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new agreement between Uber and California regulators \u2014 if <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved by an administrative judge \u2014 would see\u00a0Uber\u00a0provide anonymized data on past and future instances of assault to the agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the future,\u00a0Uber\u00a0would also offer victims the ability to opt in to being contacted by California authorities when they report a claim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All ride-hail companies operating in California \u2014 including ride-hailing archrival Lyft \u2014 would also have to comply with those future data requests.<\/p>\n<p>The dispute began when Uber released a safety report in December 2019, revealing that about 6,000 reports of sexual assault had occurred during 2.3 billion <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>s in the US in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n<p>That report prompted the Public Utilities Commission to seek more details about the incidents that occurred in California \u2014 including the date, location and time of each one, the circumstances of the assault, and contact information for witnesses as well as each person to whom the assault was reported.<\/p>\n<p>Uber refused to comply, resulting in last year\u2019s fine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lyft has promised to release a similar report on sexual assaults, but said it would await the result of Uber\u2019s tiff with California regulators before releasing its data.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>With Post Wires\u00a0<\/em>\n            <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
