Fox just announced the judging panel and host for its newest singing competition, \u201cAlter Ego.\u201d<\/p>\n

The music-focused judges will include \u201cIronic\u201d singer Alanis Morissette, Grimes, Nick Lachey and \u201cBlack Eyed Peas\u201d alum will.i.am. Rocsi Diaz \u2014 who co-hosted the BET program \u201c106 & Park\u201d \u2014 will host.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlter Ego\u201d will feature contestants who hide their true identities and perform as their \u201cdream avatar,\u201d showcasing their unique performance style via motion capture technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Alter Ego\u2019\u00a0merges talent and technology to revolutionize the singing competition show in only a way Fox can do,\u201d said Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials at Fox. \u201cWe are so excited to bring the fantastic will.i.am, Alanis, Grimes, Nick and Rocsi together as they search for the next big singing star, allowing incredible vocalists a chance to realize their dreams and perform like never before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matilda Zoltowski, who has worked on talent shows including \u201cWorld of Dance\u201d and \u201cDancing with the Stars,\u201d will serve as the show\u2019s executive producer. The show is set to take the time slot of \u201cGame<\/a> of Talents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAlter Ego\u201d will pair with Season 6 of\u00a0\u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d\u00a0on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. in the fall. \u201cMasked,\u201d hosted by Nick Cannon, features star panelists guessing the identities of celebrities by interpreting clues throughout the season. After performances conclude, the audience and panelists vote for their favorite singer, and the least popular contestant takes off their mask to reveal their identity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d also seemed to have influenced a new dating show on Netflix called \u201cSexy Beasts,\u201d in which guests test chemistry with others without ever seeing their faces \u2014 which are masked by cutting-edge Hollywood movie prosthetics. Fox also put on a spinoff of \u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d titled \u201cThe Masked Dancer,\u201d in which celebs disguise their identities with elaborate costumes to perform in front of a panel of judges.<\/p>\n
