Mark Hamill has revealed how he kept the secret behind his surprsing cameo in the Season 2 finale of \u201cThe Mandalorian.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an app<\/a>earance on \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d Thursday, Jimmy Fallon excitedly told Hamill \u2014 who appeared as Luke Skywalker in the original \u201cStar Wars\u201d trilogy, as well as the Disney sequels \u2014 that he was among the many fans who were thrilled and shocked to see Hamill play Luke once again in the Disney+<\/a> spinoff series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The show, created by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, tells the story of a lone bounty hunter who goes on the run after being hired to retrieve \u201cThe Child,\u201d a k a Grogu or \u201cBaby Yoda.\u201d It is the first live-action series in the \u201cStar Wars\u201d franchise.<\/p>\n

In one finale scene, Hamill, 69, becomes younger using CGI technology<\/a>, making him appear as he would have around the time of 1983\u2019s\u00a0\u201cReturn of the Jedi.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fallon described his appearance as \u201cone of the coolest TV moments of the year\u201d and shared his admiration for Hamill, saying, \u201cI just love you as an actor. I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ve ever gotten the chance to tell you that, but I just love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The decision to bring Hamill back once again as the legendary Jedi was just as bewildering for Hamill, who was shocked to have gotten a phone call to appear in the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalk about unexpected,\u201d said Hamill. \u201cI had finished playing that part, and I never expected to do it again. I figured if they ever tell stories of Luke in that period, post the originals and pre-sequels, they would get an age-appropriate actor. So when Jon Favreau and [producer] Dave Filoni told me about what they wanted to do, I was just stunned.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the main things with\u00a0\u2018Mandalorian\u2019\u00a0is you are sworn to secrecy. I can\u2019t even talk about it with my family, even now,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n

Hamill also mentioned that a\u00a0\u201cMandalorian\u201d\u00a0special on Disney+ will feature the making of his episode, which will answer a lot of questions viewers have about his mysterious appearance. The special premieres on Aug. 25.<\/p>\n

Fallon also discussed Hamill\u2019s upcoming role on \u201cMasters of the Universe: Revelation,\u201d a superhero fantasy series expected to debut on Netflix<\/a> on July 23. Hamill will play the role of Skeletor \u2014 the archenemy of Chris Wood\u2019s He-Man \u2014 with a face \u201conly a mother could love,\u201d according to Hamill.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Kevin Smith] doesn\u2019t take it lightly, he knows what a huge responsibility it is because it is so meaningful to a whole generation of what were once children who are now adults with their own kids,\u201d said Hamill.<\/p>\n
