I guess you could say\u00a0<em>Reminiscence<\/em> is something of an oddity \u2013 it\u2019s an original movie that\u2019s not based on any existing IP. Once upon a time, such a film wouldn\u2019t be that novel. But here in the year 2021, it\u2019s unique, so let\u2019s just hope it turns out to be a\u00a0<em>good<\/em> movie, too. In the meantime, here\u2019s what you need to know about\u00a0<em>Reminiscence<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Reminiscence_Release_Date_and_Where_You_Can_Watch_It\"><\/span><strong>Reminiscence Release Date and Where You Can Watch It<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><em>Reminiscence<\/em> will release\u00a0nationwide in theaters on<strong> August 20, 2021<\/strong>. And, since it\u2019s a Warner Bros. movie, that also means we\u2019ll be getting the film on HBO Max that same date. It\u2019ll be available on HBO Max in UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos on supported devices for 31 days from the theatrical release date.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Reminiscence\"><\/span><strong>What is Reminiscence<\/strong><strong>?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Reminiscence<\/em> is a sci-fi film from writer-director Lisa Joy. Joy is one of the co-creators of\u00a0<em>Westworld<\/em>, and here she makes her feature directorial debut. As I mentioned above,\u00a0<em>Reminiscence<\/em> has the unique distinction of being an original film not based on anything else. No book, no comic book, no TV series, no previous film. Nothing. This is 100% original, folks! And that\u2019s depressingly rare these days, especially from a major studio.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Reminiscence_Synopsis\"><\/span><strong>Reminiscence Synopsis<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here\u2019s the\u00a0<em>Reminiscence<\/em> synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nick Bannister (Hugh Jackman), a private investigator of the mind, navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Rebecca Ferguson). A simple matter of lost and found becomes a dangerous obsession. The film is produced by Joy, <strong>Jonathan Nolan<\/strong>,<strong> Michael De Luca<\/strong>, and <strong>Aaron Ryder<\/strong>. The executive producers are <strong>Athena Wickham<\/strong>, <strong>Elishia Holmes<\/strong>, and <strong>Scott Lumpkin<\/strong>.
