\nAnne Hathaway<\/strong> doesn\u2019t mess around, app<\/a>arently \u2014 and can you blame her?!<\/p>\n

The A-lister\u2019s ex-boyfriend opened up about the curious details of their abrupt split way back in 2008 \u2014 on the exact same day he was arrested for fraud. And it\u2019s wild to hear how Hathaway completely ghosted the guy after his arrest and all the way through his eventual prison sentence\u2026<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0DailyMail.com<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0Raffaello Follieri<\/strong> (pictured in the inset, above) opened up about the fateful day that he was unexpectedly COMPLETELY removed from the actress\u2019 life after cops slapped the cuffs on his wrists.<\/p>\n

Recalling how Hathaway had been doing press for a movie that night \u2014 June 24, 2008 \u2014 Follieri reminisced about how the two of them talked just hours before he went to the slammer:<\/p>\n

\u201cThat night Annie phoned me from Los Angeles where she was doing press. We were on the phone for 10 minutes talking about when she might come home.\u00a0If I remember, Annie\u2019s last words were \u2018I love you forever\u2019 and we ended the call. That was 2 a.m. on June 24, 2008. At 6 a.m. I was arrested. I never spoke to Annie again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

WHOA!!!<\/p>\n

So in a span of four hours, the\u00a0Ocean\u2019s 8<\/em> actress went from \u201clove you forever\u201d to ghosting this guy altogether?!<\/p>\n

Chillingly cold? Or an impressive commitment to not being with somebody who\u2019s on the wrong side of the law??<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t a casual relationship or anything; the Oscar<\/strong>-winning actress dated the Italian businessman for four years<\/em> up until that point. The two had been introduced by mutual friends at a dinner party in 2004 and hit it off right away. So this was a BIG part of Anne\u2019s life\u2026 and just like that, it was GONE.<\/p>\n

Follieri doubled down on the ghosting story when asked for clarification, too, adding (below):<\/p>\n

\u201cNever, never, never [heard from her again]. I think she made a business decision. She decided saving her career was most important. I am not bitter. You can look in my eyes. I don\u2019t have anger but I\u2019ve been hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Not bitter? We don\u2019t know about that. The implication from calling this a \u201cbusiness decision\u201d isn\u2019t subtle \u2014 he\u2019s definitely saying she cared more about her career than him. But\u2026 is that fair? We mean, gurl must have felt betrayed to learn her \u201csuccessful\u201d boyfriend was really a liar and a thief. Maybe she chose\u00a0principles<\/em> over him??<\/p>\n

Prosecutors accused Follieri of running quite the scheme; they alleged that he \u201cposed as a top Vatican official\u201d and swindled $6 million from real estate investors.<\/p>\n

Eventually, Follieri pleaded guilty and spent five years in prison. At the end of his term, he was subsequently deported to his native Italy and banned from entering the United States again. Sounds a little bit similar to another story we\u2019ve covered quite a bit, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

Things were life-changing for a while for both parties back in 2008 when the arrest happened, as to be expected.\u00a0Page Six<\/em> reports Hathaway \u201cspent a week in shock at a friend\u2019s house\u201d in the aftermath of Follieri\u2019s shocking arrest.<\/p>\n

But all\u2019s well that ends well, right? After all, Hathaway has been happily married to Adam Shulman<\/strong> for nine years now; they have two sons together. As for Raffaello, he found love again with wife Konstantina<\/strong>; the duo has a 4-year-old son and a daughter on the way. And presumably she\u2019ll never get the rug pulled from under her as his prison sentence is already public knowledge.<\/p>\n
