Per their report,\u00a0Marvel Studios president <strong>Kevin Feige<\/strong> and star\u00a0Mahershala Ali \u201chave been meeting with dozen[s] of candidates going all the way back to the fall, at one point considering writer-director options,\u201d before deciding to bring in writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour and find a director elsewhere. That director is now all but sure to be Bassam Tariq, a filmmaker who helmed the 2013 documentary\u00a0<em>These Birds Walk<\/em> and the Riz Ahmed movie\u00a0<em>Mogul Mowgli<\/em>. If you\u2019ve never heard of that one, don\u2019t worry \u2013 it has yet to be released in the U.S. Strand Releasing will distribute the film here in September.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->The most recent round of director meetings \u201cstarted in March and went all the way through June,\u201d with those who made the final cut delivering their \u201cfinal presentations over that time,\u201d with Tariq\u2019s \u201cvision that ultimately won all parties over.\u201d And now all that\u2019s left is for the director to officially sign on. Well, okay, that\u2019s not\u00a0<em>all<\/em> that\u2019s left \u2013 he\u2019ll have to make the movie, too. The character leapt to the big screen in 1998 with\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em> starring <strong>Wesley Snipes<\/strong> as the titular character. Snipes returned for\u00a0<em>Blade II<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Blade Trinity<\/em>. By all accounts, behind-the-scenes drama plagued that third film. That, coupled with lackluster box office returns, effectively killed the Snipes <em>Blade<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>. However, the actor had teased a potential return over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Marvel is moving ahead with a reboot that will have Oscar winner\u00a0Mahershala Ali playing the role. Ali\u2019s casting and the surprising <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> of a new\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em> movie were announced during the\u00a02019 San Diego Comic-Con. There\u2019s a ton of potential here, and Ali is more than qualified for the role. That said, it\u2019s very hard to imagine a character like Blade within the current MCU continuity. Can you imagine\u00a0vampires running around in the same world as the\u00a0<em>Avengers<\/em> movies? I can\u2019t! But I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll figure something out.<\/p>\n<p>Having not seen either of\u00a0Bassam Tariq\u2019s films, I can\u2019t really comment on his work.
