“#Why Brady Probably Didn’t Shoot Jack<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s now a seasons<\/em>-long mystery (hopefully) on Virgin River<\/em>: Who shot Jack (Martin Henderson)?<\/p>\n

At the end of Season 2, someone came into Jack\u2019s bar and shot him. He\u2019d been expecting his girlfriend Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) to stop by, and she found him bleeding out. It wasn\u2019t until the Season 3 finale that someone was arrested for the attempted murder: Jack\u2019s old friend Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth). The gun was found in his car, but he insisted he didn\u2019t do it. The army buddies-turned-more-enemies-than-frenemies did fight the night of the shooting, but Brady said he left after they argued.<\/p>\n

Honestly, we can\u2019t help but believe Brady when he claims he\u2019s innocent. After all, earlier in the finale, he had a run-in with Calvin (David Cubitt), whose drug operation Jack interfered with, and refused to get into business with him to help his lumber company\u2019s finances. (In exchange, Brady would help with Calvin\u2019s debts. Brady refused to run drugs for him.) The gun could have easily<\/em> been planted in Brady\u2019s truck then.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy suppliers are going to get their money back one way or another. If I can\u2019t give it to them, well, they\u2019re coming after you. That is, if you\u2019re not in prison,\u201d Calvin said. He heard that Brady didn\u2019t have an alibi for the night of the shooting, and Brady once again proclaimed his innocence. \u201cThen I guess you got nothing to worry about,\u201d Calvin said ominously. Doesn\u2019t that sound like he had a feeling what was about to happ<\/a>en (Brady\u2019s arrest)?<\/p>\n

We also can\u2019t help but think about what Henderson \u2014 who knows who shot Jack \u2014 wants to see if Virgin River<\/em> is renewed for a fourth season. \u201cI\u2019m hoping that there\u2019s room for healing around the Brady-Jack relationship at some point,\u201d he told TV Insider. \u201cThere\u2019s a brotherly love there and I think the kind of bond that can only exist between people who were in war zones together. It\u2019s such an intense situation and that sense of connectedness [and] loyalty is very, very deep. It\u2019d be nice to maybe see some of that healed.\u201d That would be especially difficult if Brady had been the one to try to kill Jack.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, executive producer Sue Tenney\u2019s tease about how this \u201cwho shot Jack?\u201d storyline will wrap up has us even more convinced of Brady\u2019s innocence. \u201cIf given a Season 4 \u2014 knock wood \u2014 we wrap up actually what started as them being kidnapped, the introduction of Calvin and Jimmy [Ian Tracey],\u201d she said. \u201cCalvin and Jimmy and the failed raid in Season 2 and him getting shot all intersect with all the rest of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the EP also said that \u201cthe audience will be genuinely surprised at who\u2019s behind all of it,\u201d which could very well rule out Calvin and point the finger in Brady\u2019s direction. Still, we\u2019re going to choose to believe Brady when he says he didn\u2019t do it for now, at least until we see what exactly happened that night.<\/p>\n
