Here, a young woman is forced to reconnect with her estranged mother. But this is no normal family reunion. But perhaps it was more of a curse than a blessing, because everything Blomkamp has made after\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em> hasn\u2019t gone over so well. Is the filmmaker\u2019s post-<em>District 9<\/em> work really that bad? Or was\u00a0<em>District 9<\/em> such a high-bar that he\u2019s had trouble clearing it ever since? I\u2019m sure opinions vary on that one. For what it\u2019s worth, I think\u00a0<em>Elysium<\/em> has its moments, but\u00a0<em>Chappie<\/em> is bad across the board.<\/p>\n<p>And now we have\u00a0<em>Demonic<\/em>. It\u2019s a change of pace for Blomkamp. For one thing, it\u2019s a horror movie. For another, it has a much smaller budget than his previous feature films (Blomkamp is no stranger to smaller budgets, though, having helmed several short films). In\u00a0<em>Demonic<\/em>, \u201cA young woman unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/demonic-poster-image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-685771\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/demonic-poster-image-700x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/demonic-poster-image-700x321.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/demonic-poster-image-360x165.jpg 360w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/demonic-poster-image-768x352.jpg 768w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/demonic-poster-image.jpg 948w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Demonic\"><\/span><strong>What is Demonic?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>That plot is pretty vague! I\u2019ve seen\u00a0<em>Demonic<\/em>, and while I can\u2019t tell you my opinion of the film just yet, I can say there\u2019s a lot more going on than that synopsis, and this trailer, suggests. But as you can see, there\u2019s stuff going on here involving a video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>-like simulation.<\/p>\n<p><em>Demonic<\/em> stars\u00a0<strong>Carly Pope<\/strong>\u00a0(<i>Elysium<\/i>),\u00a0<strong>Chris William Martin<\/strong>\u00a0(<i>The Age of Adaline, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem,<\/i><i>\u00a0The Vampire Diaries<\/i>), and\u00a0<strong>Michael Rogers<\/strong>\u00a0(<i>Siren<\/i>,\u00a0<em>The<\/em>\u00a0<i>Blacklis<\/i>t,\u00a0<i>Supernatural<\/i>).
