Now the star of one of them has revealed that they almost merged into a crossover for the ages.<\/p>\n<p>While promoting her new action-revenge thriller\u00a0<strong><em>Jolt<\/em><\/strong>, actress\u00a0<strong>Kate Beckinsale<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/film\/columns\/kate-beckinsale-underworld-blade-cynthia-erivo-candace-bushnell-sex-in-the-city-1235024318\/\">told Variety<\/a>\u00a0that she was hoping for a mashup between her vampire franchise\u00a0<strong><em>Underworld<\/em><\/strong> and the\u00a0<strong>Wesley Snipes<\/strong>-led <em><strong>Blade <\/strong><\/em>franchise. Unfortunately, the folks at Marvel had other plans for the vampire-hunting daywalker.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->\u201cI really wanted them to do an \u2018Underworld\u2019-\u2018Blade\u2019 mashup. What a duo that would be,\u201d she told Variety. \u201cI would definitely do that, but I think they just wanted to reboot\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em> as\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em> so they didn\u2019t go for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beckinsale played the vampire assassin Selene in four of the five <em>Underworld<\/em>\u00a0films, which spanned from 2003 to 2016. (She was absent in the third film\/prequel,\u00a0<em>The Rise of the Lycans<\/em>, where Beckinsale look-alike\u00a0<strong>Rhona Mitra<\/strong> played the vampire lead, Sonja.)<\/p>\n<p>A crossover between the slick, stylish\u00a0<em>Underworld<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> and the gory, campy\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em> movies would have been an early-\u201900s goth kid\u2019s dream. Both series featured tongue-in-cheek humor, buckets of blood, and massive action sequences. The only potential downside would be the astronomical budget for leather polish.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-442891 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/Underworld-TV-series-700x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/Underworld-TV-series.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/Underworld-TV-series-360x154.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Guns_Blood_and_Leather\"><\/span>Guns, Blood, and Leather<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Beckinsale has brought up her desire to do a\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em>\/<em>Underworld<\/em> crossover. She was equally outspoken at New York Comic-Con in 2016, where she first shared the idea with fans. It\u2019s a real shame that Marvel hasn\u2019t come around to the idea, because there\u2019s a whole audience of horror fans ready to embrace it.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->While it\u2019s a shame that we never got that crossover, at least there\u2019s a new reboot of the\u00a0<em>Blade\u00a0<\/em>franchise\u00a0to look forward to. The new addition to the MCU will be directed by\u00a0<strong>Bassam Tariq<\/strong> and star\u00a0<strong>Mahershala Ali<\/strong> as the vampiric daywalker.\u00a0<strong><em>Watchmen<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>screenwriter\u00a0<strong>Stacy Osei-Kuffour\u00a0<\/strong>will pen the script. Marvel isn\u2019t likely to add the\u00a0<em>Underworld<\/em> universe to the MCU, but if they do, Beckinsale is ready.
