While it does exist in the same universe as the first movie, sort of, the two are only loosely connected. So, the second take on the material has a chance to introduce some much-needed changes.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s everything you need to know about <i>The Suicide Squad<\/i>:<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Suicide_Squad_Release_Date_and_Where_to_Watch\"><\/span>The Suicide Squad Release Date (and Where to Watch)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Because of Warner Bros.\u2019s new streaming deal with HBO Max, <i>The Suicide Squad<\/i> will debut in theaters and on the streaming service simultaneously on August 6, 2021. Although its theatrical run ultimately depends on how well it does, the movie leaves HBO Max after one month \u2014 so plan accordingly!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Suicide_Squad_Cast\"><\/span>The Suicide Squad Cast<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><i>The Suicide Squad<\/i> welcomes back some familiar faces while also introducing some new ones. <strong>Margot Robbie<\/strong> returns as Harley Quinn in her third stint in the DC Extended Universe after <i>Suicide Squad<\/i> and <strong><i>Birds of Prey<\/i><\/strong> (2020). Other original Suicide Squad members coming back include <strong>Joel Kinnaman<\/strong> as leader Rick Flag and <strong>Jai Courteney<\/strong> as Captain Boomerang.\u00a0 Also, <strong>Viola Davis<\/strong> is also back as the Suicide Squad missions director Amanda Waller. Those characters who survived the original who aren\u2019t in the new movie include Will Smith and Jared Leto, who played the Joker.<\/p>\n<p>Newcomers in <em>The Suicide Squad<\/em> include <strong>Pete Davidson<\/strong> (<i>The King of Staten Island<\/i>) as armored villain Blackguard,<strong> Idris Elba<\/strong> (<i>Luther<\/i>) as special weapons-expert and super dad Bloodsport, <strong>John Cena<\/strong> (<i>Blockers<\/i>) as a peacemaker called, well, Peacemaker, <strong>David Dastmalchian<\/strong> (<i>Ant-Man<\/i>) as Polka-Dot Man,\u00a0<strong>Flula Borg\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Pitch Perfect 2<\/em>) as Javelin,\u00a0<strong>Daniela Melchior<\/strong> as a rat specialist <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriately named Ratcatcher 2, <strong>Mayling Ng<\/strong> as Mongal,\u00a0<strong>Michael Rooker\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em>) as Savant, <strong>Alice Braga <\/strong>(<em>City of God<\/em>) as Sol Soria, <strong>Nathan Fillion <\/strong>(<em>Firefly<\/em>) as T.D.K.,\u00a0<strong>Peter Capaldi\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Doctor Who<\/em>) as the highly intelligent super-villain The Thinker,\u00a0<strong>Sean Gunn <\/strong>(<em>Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em>) as Weasel, and last, but certainly not least, man\/myth\/legend <strong>Sylvester Stallone<\/strong> as the voice of the half-man\/half-shark known as King Shark.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Plot_of_The_Suicide_Squad\"><\/span>The Plot of The Suicide Squad<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><i>The Suicide Squad<\/i> follows a cast of infamous super-villains who are assembled from the Belle Reve prison and are turned into Task Force X. Their mission? Go to a remote South American island called Corto Maltese and eradicate a sketchy prison that is home to a shady cast of characters. While on Corto Maltese, the group encounters a giant bloodthirsty starfish called Starro\u2026 because that\u2019s totally not the creepiest thing we can possibly imagine.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Watch_the_Trailers\"><\/span>Watch the Trailers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you were wondering whether or not <i>The Suicide Squad<\/i> would be totally epic or not, allow these two trailers to confirm that it definitely will be. Among the things we see are: Harley Quinn being her regular badass self and taking out a group of adversaries with the swoop of her gun, members of the crew leaping out of a crumbling building, and of course, the giant killer starfish in the flesh. In 2018, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/7\/20\/17596452\/guardians-of-the-galaxy-marvel-james-gunn-fired-pedophile-tweets-mike-cernovich\">old, offensive jokes Gunn had made on Twitter<\/a> resurfaced, and he was temporarily fired by Disney from the next <i>Guardians of the Galaxy<\/i> sequel. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/14\/movies\/james-gunn-the-suicide-squad.html\">In an interview<\/a> with the <i>New York Times<\/i>, Gunn admits he was convinced that his career was over at that moment.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt was unbelievable. And for a day, it seemed like everything was gone. <i>Everything<\/i> was gone. I was going to have to sell my house. I was never going to work again. And that part of it is good. It\u2019s just about finding that balance.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Months after Gunn\u2019s firing, everything changed (again). He was hired by Warner Bros. to make <i>The Suicide Squad<\/i> (though he could have done <em>Superman<\/em> if he wanted) and felt he was getting a second chance. Now, he is one of the only directors to have worked in the DC Extended Universe <i>and<\/i> the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
