\n You won\u2019t catch Jeremiah Martin complaining about the food or amenities inside the NBA bubble.<\/p>\n

The Nets\u2019 rookie point guard is thrilled to simply be a part of it. For him, it\u2019s a best-case scenario, the chance to play on the sport\u2019s biggest stage and prove he belongs.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity, something I\u2019ve been waiting on and working for all my life,\u201d the former Memphis star said on a Sunday night Zoom call. \u201cI\u2019m doing something I always wanted to do. \u2026 I\u2019m going to play against some great players and great teams. It\u2019s such a great opportunity. I can\u2019t look back.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far, the 6-foot-2 point guard is making the most of his chance. Teammates and interim coach Jacque Vaughn have raved about his shot-making ability and compete level. Vaughn has said Martin has been a \u201csurprise,\u201d has been fearless attacking the basket and on Sunday said he likes how inquisitive he is. That\u2019s been one of Martin\u2019s priorities \u2014 to soak everything up, learn as much as he can.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just been all ears,\u201d he said, \u201cMy teammates always come up to tell me the good and the bad things that I need to work on.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old Martin went undrafted last June after four seasons at Memphis. An overlooked recruit and late-developing prospect, he played for three different coaches at Memphis, yet still developed into an All-AAC first-team performer his senior year. Martin averaged only 2.7 points as a freshman and ended his career with 1,625 points. He\u2019s always had to work for everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust knowing there\u2019s going to be things that get in your way, you can\u2019t just quit,\u201d Martin said. \u201cYou have to stay focused, knowing times will be tough, things may not be on your side, things are stacked against you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite getting passed over in the draft, he didn\u2019t let it slow him down. He averaged 18.5 points and 5.1 assists in 21 game<\/a>s for G-League Sioux Falls this season and was signed as a two-way player on Jan. 15 by the Nets. He app<\/a>eared in three games with them, spending most of his time in the G-League. But he\u2019s getting his shot in Orlando, with Spencer Dinwiddie being forced out due to contracting the coronavirus and Kyrie Irving (shoulder) injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I wasn\u2019t here, I would be wanting to be here,\u201d Martin said. \u201cI got the opportunity to be a part of it, so I\u2019m going to take full advantage of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, being away from his daughter Journee isn\u2019t easy. He talks with her frequently, though, over the phone. He said he\u2019s doing this for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ultimate goal is to play basketball, do my job and be able to take care of her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Newcomer Justin Anderson remained in quarantine after the Nets officially signed him on Saturday as a substitute player for the rest of the season. The 6-foot-6 Anderson appeared in three games with the Nets this year and spent time with their G-League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to give us some versatility,\u201d Vaughn said. \u201cThe ability to shoot the basketball, the ability to guard multiple positions, he\u2019s definitely a welcome addition and hopefully we\u2019ll see him next team practice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Forward Donta Hall remained in quarantine, according to Vaughn.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
