“NHL stars bash ESPN\u2019s Max Kellerman for hockey-hating rant<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Hockey fans weren\u2019t the only ones ticked off by Max Kellerman\u2019s hot take.<\/p>\n

Those who play the game<\/a> Kellerman claimed nobody cared about and wasn\u2019t one of the major sports also had a bone to pick with the ESPN host.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to hurt your feelings, but settle down Max @maxkellerman,\u201d Flyers captain Claude Giroux tweeted Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cTypical [clown emoji] statement from Kellerman saying no one in the US cares about hockey,\u201d Rangers defenseman Tony DeAngelo tweeted earlier this week. \u201cNot a \u201cmajor sport\u201d.

\n@maxkellerman tell it to the millions of fans and sold out arenas all across the league! You\u2019ll hear more about this on [DeAngelo\u2019s] podcast! @WatchYourTone4\u201d<\/p>\n

Kellerman, 46, offered his rant on Wednesday\u2019s \u201cFirst Take.\u201d He didn\u2019t say what he considered to be the fourth major sport in addition to the NFL, MLB and NBA.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to hurt anyone\u2019s feelings, but in the United States of America, no one really cares about hockey,\u201d Kellerman said. \u201cThe old joke is, in every town there\u2019s 20,000 hockey fans [and] they all have season tickets. So the arenas are always sold out, but the TV ratings don\u2019t do anything. It\u2019s not one of the four major team sports.\u201d<\/p>\n

Longtime \u201cSportsCenter\u201d host Linda Cohn was among the first to take Kellerman to task for his opinion, saying it was \u201cinsulting\u201d to the game and those associated with it.<\/p>\n

Even those hockey lifers new to Twitter<\/a> had something to say about Kellerman\u2019s claim.<\/p>\n

\u201cHockey is alive and well @maxkellerman,\u201d former defenseman, Islanders coach and GM Mike Milbury tweeted. \u201cThe MLB only has a steady viewership because men over the age of 70 use it as a sleep remedy. I prefer vodka. People love this sport around the world, something neither the NFL nor the MLB can say. Just ask Charles Barkley about our playoff.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
