“#LeVar Burton Reveals His Excitement at Finally Hosting ‘Jeopardy!’<\/strong>”

From Emmy-nominated actor to children\u2019s television host to movie director to Grammy-winning Spoken Word artist, LeVar Burton has nearly done it all in his career. However, one dream has alluded him until now, and that is to host Jeopardy!<\/em> But that is about to change.<\/p>\n

The Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> actor \u2014 and self-confessed Jeopardy!<\/em> superfan \u2014 finally gets his go at hosting the long-running quiz show Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30, as the conveyor belt of guest hosts keeps moving. Burton and his fans have actively been campaigning for the Reading Rainbow<\/em> host to permanently take over from the late Alex Trebek.<\/p>\n

Burton\u2019s excitement to begin his guest-hosting role next week is evident by his Twitter<\/a> feed. The Roots<\/em> star has tweeted several times about the show and responded to fans who have shared their support for achieving his dream gig.<\/p>\n

Burton\u2019s Star Trek<\/em> co-star, William Shatner, recently endorsed his former co-worker\u2019s quest to become Jeopardy!<\/em> host. \u201cLeVar would do well in anything. He\u2019s a, he\u2019s a lovely, young man\u2014a lovely older man,\u201d Shatner told Newsweek<\/em><\/a> when asked about Burton\u2019s campaign. \u201cHe can do it. He\u2019s very intelligent. He\u2019s very motivated. He\u2019s a lovely man. He will be successful at anything he does.\u201d<\/p>\n

In June, Burton spoke to the New York Times Magazine<\/em><\/a> about his passion for the Jeopardy!<\/em> job, stating, \u201cJeopardy! is a cultural touchstone, and for a Black man to occupy that podium is significant.\u201d He also said \u201cit will hurt\u201d if he doesn\u2019t get the gig.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to lie,\u201d he said. \u201cBut if that happens, I will get over it. I will be fine. Remember: Everything happens perfectly and for a reason. That is my default. It\u2019s all going to be OK. Because it always is.\u201d<\/p>\n
