Conservative: Eric Adams the \u2018Godsend\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many Gotham progressives view the prospect of an Eric Adams mayoralty as a \u201cnightmare,\u201d notes The New York Times\u2019 Bret Stephens<\/a>, but \u201cfor the rest of big-city America, not to mention the Democratic Party that usually runs it, he\u2019s a godsend.\u201d The reason: \u201cDemocrats are again becoming the party of urban misrule, just as they were in the 1970s,\u201d with leaders inviting lawlessness, riots and other disorder in cities across the nation, including the Big App<\/a>le. Adams, by contrast, \u201cbelieves that effective policing is the basis for justice, not an enemy of it.\u201d If \u201cblack lives matter,\u201d Adams says, \u201cwe should be talking about a 13-year-old kid being assassinated in the Bronx.\u201d Say Stephens: \u201cIf Adams can govern as he campaigned, he\u2019ll be remembered as the mayor who saved New York from walking itself off a ledge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Libertarian: Cuba\u2019s Imperialism Is Its Downfall<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCuba, that bastion of anti-imperialist Latin American dignity, turned the far larger and richer Venezuela into a colony,\u201d gibes Reason\u2019s Daniel Raisbeck<\/a>. The \u201cyoung, tech-savvy Cubans\u201d protesting on the streets are a sure sign that the Communist regime was too \u201cbusy exploiting its Venezuelan colony\u201d to see \u201cdiscontent brewing at home.\u201d It\u2019s a \u201cclassic case of imperial overreach,\u201d with \u201cCubans stationed in Venezuela being summoned back to the island to quash the rebellion.\u201d Greek historian Polybius \u201cdescribed the cyclical nature of revolutions\u201d: \u201cone-man rule, oligarchy and democracy tend to succeed one another. With time, even the Cuban Revolution might see its tyrants fall.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foreign desk: Training Taiwan\u2019s Troops<\/strong><\/p>\n

American legislation could make Taiwan \u201charder for Beijing to control,\u201d enthuses The Wall Street Journal editorial board<\/a>. The Taiwan Partnership Act, backed by Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate, encourages the US National Guard to advise and train Taiwan\u2019s reserve force. \u201cCalling up reserves could multiply the size of Taiwan\u2019s active-duty military of under 200,000 by a factor of 10,\u201d providing \u201cadditional manpower if the island\u2019s population had to mobilize for war\u201d \u2014 which itself could deter China. Bipartisan support for helping Taiwan develop an \u201corganized and equipped reserve force\u201d shows both parties recognize America \u201chas a significant strategic interest in helping the island defend itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pandemic journal: Biden\u2019s Vax Blame Game<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

President Biden \u201cand his administration are endeavoring to shift blame to\u201d Facebook<\/a> \u201cfor the predictable effects of their own demagoguery,\u201d seethes Andrew C. McCarthy at The Hill<\/a>. \u201cThe propagandist-in-chief inveighed against\u201d the social-media giant last week \u201cfor \u2018killing people\u2019 by spreading misinformation\u201d about COVID vaccines. It\u2019s a \u201cshameful\u201d claim coming from a man whose vice president \u201ctook the opportunity\u201d at her \u201chighest-profile appearance of the campaign,\u201d the VP debate, \u201cto explain that she would not get a vaccine pushed by\u201d President Donald Trump. \u201cThe administration is upset because, after his campaign discredited the vaccine effort, Biden overpromised what he could deliver once he took charge of it,\u201d missing his July 4 target. Biden officials, not Facebook, \u201ccavalierly undermined the government\u2019s vaccine effort for what they perceived to be a fleeting political advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFacebook is killing people, misinformation is rampant, and the only people who can save us from ourselves are the all-wise executives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,\u201d snarks The Federalist\u2019s Kylee Zempel<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s the message emanating from the White House,\u201d which is \u201ceffectively deputizing Facebook to be an extension of the federal government\u2019s communications office.\u201d The \u201csame political strip<\/a>e that ridiculously cried \u2018fascism\u2019 for four years under Donald Trump is now taking concrete steps to suppress political opposition, one of the hallmarks of true fascism.\u201d Big Tech\u2019s Democrat-supported censorship of The Post\u2019s Hunter Biden reporting and the Wuhan lab-leak hypothesis prove that \u201ctoday\u2019s \u2018misinformation\u2019 is tomorrow\u2019s undeniable fact.\u201d Team Biden\u2019s collusion with Big Tech and Big Media is \u201ca desperate attempt by the ruling class to save their own rear ends from information that threatens their ideological goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
