\u201cWe\u2019ve only just begun.\u201d So ends the teaser trailer released during the Star Trek: Prodigy<\/em> panel part of [email\u00a0protected]<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Joining Kate Mulgrew<\/a> (reprising her Voyager<\/em><\/a> role as Janeway, now a hologram) were the rest of the voice cast \u2014 Brett Gray (\u201cDal\u201d), Ella Purnell<\/a> (\u201cGwyn\u201d), Angus Imrie (\u201cZero\u201d), Rylee Alazraqui (\u201cRok-Tahk\u201d), Dee Bradley Baker (\u201cMurf\u201d), and Jason Mantzoukas<\/a> (\u201cJankom Pog\u201d) \u2014 and executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman and director, co-executive producer, and creative lead Ben Hibon, along with moderator Jerry O\u2019Connell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fans were also treated to surprise app<\/a>earances by Star Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/em><\/a> stars Rebecca Romijn<\/a> (O\u2019Connell\u2019s wife) and Ethan Peck<\/a> as they walked into the room as O\u2019Connell was recording the virtual panel.<\/p>\n

The teaser for the animated kids series<\/a> (premiering this fall) introduces each of the aliens about to embark on a galactic adventure and offers a first look at the Star Trek: Prodigy<\/em> starship, seen as a \u201cticket out.\u201d Watch it below for more.<\/p>\n

Star Trek: Prodigy<\/em> is the first series of the franchise aimed at younger audiences. It follows \u201ca motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future.\u201d Though they don\u2019t know anything about the ship they commandeered (also a first for the franchise), these outcasts will learn about Starfleet and its ideals during their adventures.<\/p>\n

And Hologram Janeway is \u201cJaneway at her best,\u201d Mulgrew said during the panel. \u201cShe\u2019s there to help this motley crew get this defunct ship working and she does. She is the essential Captain Janeway. She\u2019s full of warmth. She\u2019s determined to help them get off this very, very dangerous and dark planet and into a much better place, a different galaxy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The series was produced by the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and CBS Studios\u2019 Eye Animation Studios and developed by co-showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman. Joining them as executive producers are Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth. Aaron Baiers is also a co-executive producer.<\/p>\n
