Even mega-producer <strong>Jason Blum<\/strong> said it was tired and done and he built his empire on the back of the crazy profits of those uber-cheap and successful films.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you\u2019re surprised that we have another one en route after hearing Blum describe the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> as \u201ctired\u201d you\u2019re not crazy. But apparently, it won\u2019t be the same old same old this time.<span id=\"more-687415\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/paranormal-activity-7-reboot-finished\/\">Collider<\/a> talked with Blum and asked for a <em>Paranormal<\/em> update and boy did they get one. Not only is the new movie already shot, but it\u2019s expected to drop this year.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->So, what changed?<\/p>\n<p>Well, Blum didn\u2019t go into a ton of detail but he did say that, in order to be talked into continuing the series, he told the creative team involved to completely reboot it, noting that today\u2019s primary audience were toddlers when the first one came out.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, screw you for reminding me of my own mortality, Jason Blum. How rude. Secondly, he\u2019s not wrong. Those movies were definitely a product of their time and it\u2019s going to take a fresh approach to breathe any life into this series.<\/p>\n<p>They have a good team on board. <strong>Will Eubank<\/strong>, director of the very cool <em><strong>Underwater<\/strong><\/em>, is behind the camera while\u00a0<em><strong>Happy Death Day<\/strong><\/em>\u2018s <strong>Christopher Landon<\/strong> wrote the screenplay. That should boost interest just by itself, but then there\u2019s a bigger question at hand.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_Found_Footage_Dead\"><\/span>Is Found Footage Dead?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Assuming <em>Paranormal Activity<\/em> is going to remain found footage, do audiences give a shit about that format anymore? They tried to reboot the top dog of all found-footage horror movies a few years back and, while I personally thought the <em>Blair Witch<\/em> rebootquel (reboot+sequel, naturally) was pretty effective, audiences didn\u2019t show up for it.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Is found footage dead or will it see a resurgence? We did see a great found footage-ish pandemic feature called <em>Host<\/em> in 2020 and the horror community ate that one up. I suppose at the end of the day it doesn\u2019t matter much if these movies hit big or not: they\u2019re cheap to produce and there\u2019s not much risk, especially since the studio is wanting it for its streaming service, Paramount+.
