\n A Massachusetts restaurant is repealing its \u201cracist\u201d dress code, with the owner apologizing to protesters for not realizing the impact of his policy, according to reports.<\/p>\n

About 100 demonstrators gathered outside Nathan Bill\u2019s Bar and Restaurant in Springfield to protest a policy that prohibited baggy blue jeans, long white T-shirts, do-rags and baseball caps worn backwards.<\/p>\n

A picture of the dress code spread across social media<\/a>, with many criticizing the policy as directed at African Americans.<\/p>\n

Restaurant owner Robert Grossman met with the Pioneer Valley Project, the city\u2019s NAACP chapter and City Councilor Tim Allen and agreed to end the policy, Masslive reported.<\/p>\n

This is Nathan Bill, an establishment frequented by cops.<\/p>\n

14 current\/former cops, including owner and manager, were indicted by MA AG @MassAGO for brutally beating 4 Black men at the establishment and trying to cover up the crime.<\/p>\n

Grossman issued an apology to protesters and noted that he rescinded the dress code immediately after hearing the concerns of the community.<\/p>\n

The dress code was supposedly posted in order to app<\/a>ease the city and keep his entertainment license from being in jeopardy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was used after 10 pm when the kitchen closed and the late-night crowd started with a DJ, etc.,\u201d Grossman told the crowd. \u201cIt was the \u2018norm\u2019 in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSystemic racism is rampant in our society, and following the norm of the status quo, although not intentional, is very much part of the problem,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m currently ashamed of myself and offer my sincerest apologies for offending and not being more sensitive. I\u2019m upset with myself for not being more cognizant.\u201d<\/p>\n

He promised that the dress code will never go up again, according to Western Mass News.<\/p>\n

Grossman also pledged $6,500 toward a Black Lives Matter mural that is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of weeks.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
