Long Island\u2019s runaway bull is still on the lam. <\/p>\n

The 1,500-pound beast, nicknamed \u201cBarney,\u201d was first spotted in Mastic on Tuesday, and has since been seen as far off as Stony Brook \u2014 but has thus far eluded rescuers for five days. <\/p>\n

Authorities even tried to entice the bull with a seductive cow named \u201cNorma Jean\u201d \u2014 named after screen icon Marilyn Monroe \u2014 but even that failed to bring Barney out into the open.<\/p>\n

Even thermal and cellular night vision cameras, which caught brief glimpses of the bull, have fallen short of tracking him down. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still on the case,\u201d said John DiLeonardo of Long Island Orchestrating for Nature, among the rescue groups out looking for the bull.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatience is the name of the game<\/a> from now on,\u201d he told Newsday<\/a>. \u201cWe have the corral set up, we\u2019re taking shifts with the other rescue groups, ready to pull the rope if he goes in. We have a camera set up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The wayward animal busted out of a farm on Barnes Road in Manorville by breaking through a fence \u2014 soon prompting multiple 911 calls and a \u201ccode red alert\u201d for residents in the area, who were cautioned not to app<\/a>roach the bull. <\/p>\n

Doorbell camera footage has shown the bull trotting down Suffolk County residential streets here and there, including one clip where cops and gawkers look on.<\/p>\n

But somehow he\u2019s managed to keep disappearing. <\/p>\n

When he is caught the plan is now to send Barney to an animal sanctuary, News<\/a>day reported.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
