They don\u2019t want to tell you.<\/p>\n<p>The city Department of Education called on parents and students in mid-April to let school officials know how learning from home on iPads or laptops is working out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNYC DOE wants your feedback! Take the Remote Learning Survey to share your experiences learning at home,\u201d the notice said.<\/p>\n<p>All students in grades 6 to 12, and parents or guardians of kids in grades pre-K to 12, were invited to respond to respective surveys. The deadline was May 1.<\/p>\n<p>More than a month later, the DOE still won\u2019t release the results.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks ago, City Councilman Mark Treyger, the education committee chairman, held a public hearing on remote learning and asked top DOE officials, including Chief Academic Offer Linda Chen, about the surveys.<\/p>\n<p>They had nothing to offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe answer was they\u2019re still processing and collecting, but they have not given any updates since,\u201d Treyger told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was shocking to me that we had senior DOE officials at that hearing, and not one person could give me basic information. The DOE seems to be operating in the dark, and it\u2019s unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But a DOE insider said the results have not been shared with the City Council or the public because they are \u201cnot flattering.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15789994\"><img alt=\"A DOE iPad\" data- data- height=\"302\" width=\"300\"><\/img><figcaption><span>A DOE iPad<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Many students and parents expressed dissatisfaction about the DOE\u2019s remote program, the staffer said.<\/p>\n<p>One question asked parents to respond to the statement, \u201cIn the past week, I have received the support I need from my child\u2019s school in how to help with schoolwork.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It asks for a response among the choices \u201cStrongly disagree,\u201d \u201cDisagree,\u201d \u201cAgree,\u201d \u201cStrongly agree,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another question asks what improvements they would most like to see. The choices include: \u201cProvide more guidance,\u201d \u201cProvide more <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> assistance,\u201d \u201cProvide more technology (e.g. iPad or computer),\u201d \u201cProvide fewer assignments,\u201d \u201cProvide more assignments,\u201d and \u201cProvide more resources in a language that I understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Treyger asked Chen how many students are getting live instruction from teachers, a question not included in the survey. During the hearing, Chen said she didn\u2019t know.
