The Issue: The Biden administration\u2019s call for social<\/a>-media sites to restrict vaccine \u201cmisinformation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is one thing to monitor and censor hate speech; it\u2019s quite another to censor disagreements about political, social and medical issues of great importance to the public (\u201cOutsourcing Censorship,\u201d Jacob Sullum, PostOpinion, July 21).<\/p>\n

On issues such as these, American society has always operated on the principle that sunlight is the best disinfectant. The Biden administration chooses instead a bullying kind of censorship, even in light of the scientific and medical mistakes it has promoted in the past.<\/p>\n

It inadvertently supplies former President Donald Trump\u2019s lawsuit with the state-action requirement that it might otherwise lack \u2014 but more important is a pivotal point in the history of the First Amendment, about which every American should be concerned.<\/p>\n

Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the White House is \u201cin regular touch with social media platforms\u201d to combat \u201cmisinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Any critical-thinking individual should have a problem with this. One unintended negative outcome could include who ends up getting to decide what constitutes \u201cmisinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re OK with this, would you have app<\/a>roved this being done by the previous administration? Do we really want the government to influence what we can read, see and hear? That seems to be working so well in places like Cuba right now. <\/p>\n

Social media will censor people regarding the vaccine. This is total madness.<\/p>\n

When will Republican senators take a hard stand against this type of collusion? People need to open their eyes and see how devious the administration acts.<\/p>\n

When the government teams up with the mainstream media and social media to censor viewpoints they don\u2019t like, it is a threat to our democracy.<\/p>\n

Psaki stated that not just one social media organization should censor \u201cmisinformation,\u201d but that all platforms should do it.<\/p>\n

That is dishonest. In this case, \u201cmisinformation\u201d is information the government simply doesn\u2019t like.<\/p>\n

Every single citizen of this country is guaranteed the freedom to express his or her viewpoint. Some government flack should not state that people should be censored because they don\u2019t agree with the government line.<\/p>\n

This is dangerous, and if this censorship does not stop, it will destroy our country.<\/p>\n

As Miranda Devine points out, and Psaki admitted, the White House is going fascist (\u201cMedia\u2019s Anti-Vax Smear,\u201d July 19).<\/p>\n

Under the guise of protecting our health, the Biden administration is deputizing Big Tech to censor free speech.<\/p>\n

Disinformation about COVID must be censored. Psaki stated they were flagging the names of individuals and groups to Facebook that they want silenced.<\/p>\n

I recall last year, The Post was censored when it ran an op-ed on the possibility of a lab leak in China. Last year\u2019s \u201cmisinformation\u201d often becomes today\u2019s truth.<\/p>\n

The collusion of the government and big business to deprive us of our rights is the definition of fascism. <\/p>\n
