A UK woman who was convicted of fatally stabbing her neighbor after learning he was a pedophile has reportedly revealed that her son was one of the sicko\u2019s victims.<\/p>\n

Single mother-of-five Sarah Sands, 38, killed 77-year-old Michael Pleasted in his east London apartment weeks after discovering he had abused young boys.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2015, she was found guilty of manslaughter by reason of loss of control and sentenced to three and a half years behind bars \u2013 but the \u201cunduly lenient\u201d prison term was extended to seven and a half years by an app<\/a>ellate court.<\/p>\n

During her trial, it emerged that Pleasted had 24 convictions for sex offenses dating back over three decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did what any mother would do because he did this to my son Bradley, my little boy,\u201d Sands, who spent almost four years in the slammer before being released, told The Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never dreamt I\u2019d be capable. I have no pride in it but at least I know he can\u2019t hurt anyone else. I\u2019m not a bad person but I know I did a bad thing. I\u2019ve never denied that and I\u2019ve been punished,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d never kill again. I don\u2019t see myself as a murderer, but I don\u2019t regret what I did. I was a mom desperate to protect my children,\u201d Sands continued.<\/p>\n

She then recalled what led up to the fatal attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember picking up a knife and I went to Mick\u2019s. I wanted to persuade him to plead guilty so Bradley would not have to testify,\u201d she said. \u201cMick opened the door and smirked. He was cocky and abrupt.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wouldn\u2019t listen to me. He was cold. A different man to the one who\u2019d been my friendly neighbor,\u201d Sands said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI poked him in his front with the knife and he grabbed me. I lost control. I couldn\u2019t let anyone else get hurt \u2014 somebody had to protect people,\u201d she said, adding that her warnings about the neighbor to police, social<\/a> services and housing authorities were in vain.<\/p>\n

No one knew of Pleasted\u2019s criminal past because he had changed his name and his crimes predated the sex offenders register, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had no idea who he really was. How could I? He had lied and changed his name so he could attack kids,\u201d Sands told The Sun.<\/p>\n

In 2014, Pleasted offered her then-12-year-old son a job in the shop where he was a volunteer, said Sands, who thought it would be a good way for Bradley to earn some money.<\/p>\n

\u201cMick was a role model. I\u2019d take him meals and we\u2019d chat. I had no reason not to trust him. I thought Bradley was safe,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

But Sand\u2019s son soon lost interest in his job \u2014 and weeks later she learned that Pleasted had been accused of molesting two kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew the boys. I didn\u2019t doubt a word they said. It was awful. They were 12 \u2014 so young,\u201d she said. \u201cBradley said nothing had happened to him but he had to give a video statement to the police because he had worked with Mick.\u201d<\/p>\n

In November 2014, Bradley revealed that he had been abused.<\/p>\n

\u201cI found him pulling out his hair, rocking, shaking and crying. He kept saying, \u2018I should have told you before \u2014 that could have stopped him getting those younger boys,\u2019\u201d Sands said. \u201cHe was attacked at the shop and his house. I felt sick and heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bradley, now 19, told the outlet he had been \u201ctoo embarrassed to say anything at first.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to get into trouble but I was having nightmares Mick would come after me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI begged them to re-arrest Mick. He was back on the estate like nothing had happened and because he\u2019d pleaded not guilty his victims, including my son, would be made to testify,\u201d Sands said.<\/p>\n

She then decided to take matters into her own hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cI drank two bottles of wine, returned to my old flat and knelt on the floor holding a photo of the kids, screaming. I hadn\u2019t been able to cry before \u2014 Bradley was always around,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guilt I felt for not protecting him overwhelmed me. That is when I picked up the knife and went to Mick\u2019s,\u201d Sands added.<\/p>\n

She stabbed Pleasted eight times with a 12-inch kitchen knife and told police: \u201cWho houses a f\u2013king pedophile on an estate?\u201d<\/p>\n

In August 2018, Sands was reunited with her family and is now writing a book, \u201cLoss of Control.\u201d<\/p>\n
