These people are about to check in for an unpredictable stay.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The darkly comic limited series<\/a> \u201cThe White Lotus,\u201d airing new episodes Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO, follows a group of eccentric guests and employees at an exclusive tropical resort in Hawaii.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There\u2019s high-powered executive Nicole (Connie Britton), her husband Mark (Steve Zahn), and teen daughter Olivia (Sydney Sweeney, \u201cSharp Objects\u201d), who\u2019d rather do drugs than enjoy her surroundings; hapless resort manager Armond (Murray Bartlett); ditzy Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), who\u2019s on a trip<\/a> to scatter her mother\u2019s ashes; and Rachel (Alexandra Daddario, \u201cTrue Detective\u201d) and Shane (Jake Lacy, \u201cThe Office\u201d), a couple on their honeymoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to work with Lauren Sarner Mike White. I loved the material, I loved the character, and I was eager to get back to work,\u201d Daddario, 35, told The Post. \u201cIt was the end of 2020, so it had obviously been a hard year. And I was itching to do an adventure. I\u2019m really grateful that it was such a wonderful project.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rachel is a friendly New York journalist from a modest background who\u2019s married into a wealthy family. Her new husband often belittles her job and starts complaining about their idealistic surroundings \u2014 becoming obsessed with the idea that they\u2019ve been cheated out of a more luxurious room at the resort as he engages in a battle of wits with Armond.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re with someone [on vacation] and everything seems to be going wrong around you, you can make it fun and funny if you\u2019re with the right person,\u201d said Daddario. \u201cIf you\u2019re with the wrong person, then everything great just becomes a disaster. <\/p>\n

\u201cI do understand that feeling of angst that you\u2019re trapp<\/a>ed in a relationship that you shouldn\u2019t be in, and not really knowing what to do, and you\u2019re constantly trying to make it better,\u201d she said. \u201cRachel sort of has this sense of wanting everything to be OK all around her. And that can be quite exhausting and anxiety-inducing. I certainly can relate to that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The series was shot on location at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were quarantined in the hotel,\u201d said Daddario. \u201cBut the beach was beautiful and there was a little cove where there were these gorgeous big turtles. I\u2019d go snorkeling there, come back, do a little walking on the beach and then go back to the hotel. That was my routine.\u201d<\/p>\n

While \u201cThe White Lotus\u201d is a comedy, it opens with the implication that somebody died before flashing back to the events leading up to the fatality.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited about everyone seeing the ending,\u201d said Daddario. \u201cI don\u2019t read reviews or read much of anything. I have Twitter<\/a> and Instagram, so I see some things. I used to be obsessive and follow everything and I found that\u2019s not healthy for your brain, so I stay away, mostly. But I have heard people are enjoying [the show]. And that brings me a lot of joy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Daddadrio comes from an acting family; her brother Matthew (\u201cShadowhunters\u201d) and her sister, Catharine, are also in the business.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was 10 or 11 and started doing commercials in New York. I loved acting class, I found it to be very therapeutic [and] auditioning was viewed as an extracurricular activity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Daddario began her career starring in the movie adaptations of the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d- esque book series \u201cPercy Jackson\u201d (2010), now being turned into a series at at Disney+<\/a>. (Daddario will likely not be involved.) \u201cIt was such an amazing thing for me and I love the books \u2014 it\u2019s been so long since I did those films,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s cool to see there\u2019s a new generation of people who will enjoy having a TV series. I\u2019m excited for it.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/div>\n
