“#Meghan McCain defends Tucker Carlson over viral confrontation<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Meghan McCain jumped to Tucker Carlson\u2019s defense Monday after video showed a man calling the Fox News<\/a> host the \u201cworst human being known to man\u201d during a confrontation at a Montana fishing store.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you think accosting a public figure while they\u2019re shopping for fishing gear with their family on vacation is somehow accomplishing something or changing anyone\u2019s hearts or minds \u2013 you\u2019re a hypocrite and have totally lost the plot,\u201d McCain wrote on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The conservative pundit, who will be leaving her co-host gig<\/a> on \u201cThe View\u201d later this month, app<\/a>eared to be referencing a clip posted on Instagram<\/a> over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The brief video showed a man accosting the \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d host as he shopped for fishing gear with his family.<\/p>\n

Dan Bailey, who posted the footage, accused Carlson in an accompanying post of \u201ckill[ing]\u201d people with vaccine misinformation and supporting \u201cextreme racism.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the 22-second clip, Carlson can be heard quietly responding to Bailey by saying, \u201cI appreciate that\u201d and then laughing when he realizes that he is being filmed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSettle down, son,\u201d Carlson appears to say, before he begins to walk away, as Bailey retorts, \u201cSon? Don\u2019t call me son\u201d and follows.<\/p>\n

A Fox News spokesperson condemned the man for \u201cambushing\u201d Carlson while he was in the store with his family, calling the encounter \u201ctotally inexcusable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo public figure should be accosted regardless of their political persuasion or beliefs simply due to the intolerance of another point of view,\u201d the statement said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fox Business Network correspondent Charles Gasparino also backed Carlson, blasting people on Twitter<\/a> who were taking Bailey\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhats pathetic about the twitter reaction is that the lefties think its OK for this guy to harass @TuckerCarlson while he\u2019s w his kid,\u201d Gasparino posted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Greg Price, a writer for the Daily Caller, the right-wing news website co-founded by Carlson in 2010, gave the top-rated host \u201cprops\u201d for how he handled the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I ever got confronted like that in public, my language definitely would have been a lot more colorful,\u201d he wrote on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The head-to-head took place at Dan Bailey\u2019s Outdoor Co. in Livingston,\u00a0Montana. The store said it was not affiliated with the man who confronted Carlson, and that it was a coincidence that he shares a name with the shop\u2019s founder.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be clear, we treat every customer equally and respectfully,\u201d\u00a0the store said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cOur staff was professional and cordial to Mr. Carlson, as we are with all of our customers.\u201d\n <\/div>\n
