Rossy de Palma, another long-time collaborator who starred in<em> Law of Desir<\/em>e and<em> Julieta<\/em>, joins the cast.\u00a0<strong>Milena Smit<\/strong> plays Ana in her sophomore feature film while <strong>Aitana S\u00e1nchez Gij\u00f3n<\/strong> plays Teresa. Cruz, Smit, and\u00a0Gij\u00f3n play the three imperfect mothers while\u00a0<strong>Israel<\/strong> <strong>Elejalde<\/strong> is the male character.<\/p>\n<p>Almod\u00f3var\u2019s style\u00a0is im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely front and center with gorgeous symmetry shots and a story focused on motherhood and women. Cinematographer<strong>\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Luis Alcaine<\/strong> returns with bright pops of color to counterbalance the intense emotions experienced by the film\u2019s characters. It\u2019s also interesting that there is no dialogue in this trailer which leaves so much to the facial expressions of each actor. The close-up shots and mischievous eye movements all relay a secretive tone and potential plot twists.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2020, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thefilmstage.com\/pedro-almodovar-reteams-with-penelope-cruz-for-next-feature-madres-paralelas\/\">The Film Stage<\/a> announced that <em>Parallel Mothers<\/em> \u201cfollows two women who give birth on the same day and have parallel trajectories in life. Written specifically with Cruz in mind, the story will be set in Madrid and will explore the feminine world of new mothers, of mothers who are raising children in the first and second year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/video\/parallel-mothers-teaser-pedro-almodovar-1234653301\/\">IndieWire<\/a> announced the official synopsis of <em>Parallel Mothers<\/em> below, courtesy of Venice:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cTwo women, Janis and Ana, coincide in a hospital room where they are going to give birth. Both are single and got pregnant by accident. Janis, middle-aged, doesn\u2019t regret it and she is exultant. The other, Ana, an adolescent, is scared, repentant, and traumatized. Janis tries to encourage her while they move like sleepwalkers along the hospital corridors. The few words they exchange in these hours will create a very close link between the two, which chance will undertake to develop and complicate in such a decisive way that it will change the lives of both.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 --><em>Parallel Mothers<\/em> is written and directed by<strong> Almod\u00f3var <\/strong>himself and will be a Spanish-language film. There also appears to be a fresh glimpse into some of his favorite <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a>s of femininity, motherhood, and family. In a casting announcement, the writer\/director stated that with this film, he speaks \u201cof the importance of ancestors and descendants. Honestly, they stress me out and I\u2019m not even a mother. However, I appreciate the thematic elements that encompass motherhood and the ideals in which are associated with such a crucial role. Lately, films have been exploring the more turbulent side of motherhood and whether or not that is even desired. From <em>Hereditary<\/em> to <em>Plan B<\/em> and <em>Pieces of a<\/em> <em>Woman<\/em>, it seems like motherhood is on full display in all of its painful, traumatic, scary, and, yes, beautiful attributes.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how\u00a0Almod\u00f3var approaches these themes again in a new manner, especially since he is able to successfully capture female experiences \u2014 and frequently, the maternal experience \u2014 through films like <strong><em>All About My Mother<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><em>Volver<\/em><\/strong>. Rarely do you watch one of his films and complain about the male lens.
