He ended up composing enough to create three separate\u00a0<em>Dune<\/em> albums, which will release as follows.<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0<strong>September 3<\/strong>, the digital album\u00a0<em>The Dune Sketchbook (Music from the Soundtrack)\u00a0<\/em>will be released.\u00a0<em>The Dune Sketchbook<\/em> is comprised of extended musical explorations of the\u00a0<em>Dune<\/em> film score. One significant note about this album is that it will be released in both Standard and Dolby Atmos Music configurations, marking Zimmer\u2019s first soundtrack released in Dolby Atmos Music.<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0<strong>September 17<\/strong>, the digital album\u00a0<em>Dune (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)\u00a0<\/em>will be released, featuring the official <em>Dune<\/em> film score. It will also be released in both Standard and Dolby Atmos Music configurations.<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0<strong>October 22<\/strong>\u00a0the digital album\u00a0<em>The Art and Soul of Dune<\/em> will be released as a tie-in to the book of the same title. The two had bonded over their shared love for the\u00a0<em>Dune<\/em> novel by\u00a0<strong>Frank Herbert<\/strong> while working together on\u00a0<em>Blade Runner 2049.<\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>They shared ideas about the tonal qualities and emotional resonance they wanted the score to have, which sounds like a movie music match made in Heaven.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->\u201cWe agreed that the music would need to have a spirituality to it\u2026a sanctified quality,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20210723005099\/en\/Three-Epic-Dune-Soundtracks-Featuring-New-Music-From-Academy-and-Grammy-Award-Winning-Composer-Hans-Zimmer-Coming-From-WaterTower-Music\">Villeneuve told Business Wire<\/a>. \u201cSomething that would elevate the soul and have the effect that only sacred music can. And I believe that is firmly present in Hans\u2019 score.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The score is certain to be a unique one, as Zimmer eschewed traditional orchestral instruments in favor of choruses of voices and wholly original instrumentation. \u201cHans spent months and months creating new instruments, defining, creating, and seeking new sounds, pushing the envelope,\u201d Villeneuve said.<\/p>\n<p>Sneak peeks have revealed this haunting orchestration, where voices are mixed to sound almost like instruments themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDenis and I agreed that the female characters in the film drive the story,\u201d Zimmer explained. \u201cSo the score is based on mainly female voices. We developed our own language.
