And while creator and showrunner <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> is often very secretive about what each season will bring to the table, this season seems to be throwing some curveballs. Namely that the season will be split in half with two potentially isolated stories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The brand new trailer and poster for the season sheds a bit more gloom on the matter and offers some eerie insight into what\u2019s in store.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"more-688457\"><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" xml:lang=\"en\">Taking you under 8\/25, next day on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FXonHulu?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FXonHulu<\/a>. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AHSDoubleFeature?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#AHSDoubleFeature<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yWXshyOToY\">pic.twitter.com\/yWXshyOToY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 AmericanHorrorStory (@AHSFX) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AHSFX\/status\/1420006070941069320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Tale_of_Two_Creepies\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Tale of Two Creepies\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initial <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">poster for the season<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was vague (again, per usual), and Murphy coyly shared the hint \u201cThings are beginning to wash up on shore\u2026\u201d on <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B9kBSgrJBBj\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">his Instagram<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> back in March of 2020. This March, <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CMni7mknbB4\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Murphy turned to Instagram yet again<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to give us a bit more information on the tenth season of the anthology <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>: \u201cOne by the sea\u2026one by the sand.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Danielle Ryan broke down what we know thus far <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">just two weeks ago<\/span>\u00a0including information about\u00a0<em>AHS<\/em> newcomers\u00a0<strong>Macaulay Culkin<\/strong> and\u00a0model-actress <strong>Kaia Gerber<\/strong>. What she gleaned then was that\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">one story would focus on mermaids or sirens of the deep, while the other would be centered on aliens and potential abduction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This new poster and trailer, both released today, confirm that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=J-_okHpfC94\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=J-_okHpfC94<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Something_Scary_This_Way_Comes_Hopefully\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Something Scary This Way Comes (Hopefully)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m a conflicted fan of the series if I\u2019m being honest. While I love its camp, I\u2019m also torn by its often reductive treatment of the genre. More often than not it frames horror as little more than a collection of synthesized stereotypes that you can just throw at a wall and see what sticks.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 --><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No season illustrated that quite as much as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assylum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in my opinion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The entirety of the second season was a chaotic mess of endless horror tropes, most of which did not go well together. We had aliens, abduction, possession, Anne Frank for some reason, Nazi scientists, a killer Santa Clause by way of a woefully underutilized Ian McShane, as well as torture, body horror, serial killers, and I think I\u2019m just scratching the surface. It was a mess.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My favorite seasons, on the other hand, have to be <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coven<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apocalypse<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, mostly because they\u2019re distinctly aware of their camp factor and they\u2019re just a blast to watch. But the best by far and easily the most cohesive season has to be <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roanoke<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"My_Roanoke_Nightmare\"><\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My Roanoke Nightmare<\/span><\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sixth season kind of took a double feature <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach in as much as it was split in half. The first half was presented as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My Roanoke Nightmare<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a documentary and dramatic reenactment of everything that happened to couple Shelby and Matt Miller (each played by <\/span><b>Sarah Paulson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Lily Rabe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as <\/span><b>Cuba Gooding Jr.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Andr\u00e9 Holland<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> respectively) in their haunted home. Paulson and Gooding Jr. took on the fictionalized roles of the \u201creal-life\u201d Rabe and Holland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second half of the season takes a bit more of a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One Cut of the Dead<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> meets <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> approach to things by leaning more into found footage. The cast of the documentary rejoined their \u201creal-life\u201d counterparts to spend one night in the actual home that caused so much terror.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_3 --><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The biggest complaint anyone can lodge against <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AHS<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a franchise is its inability to cohesively pace a season. It actually functions better in two distinct parts, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roanoke<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> got that right off the hop. Seasons like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freak Show<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hotel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cult<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1984<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 although this really applies to all of them \u2014 kill off who we assume will be the big bad by the halfway mark. Audiences are left scratching their heads wondering why the villain they\u2019d been selling us for months was suddenly and underwhelmingly dispatched.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Double Feature<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may actually work to Murphy\u2019s strengths in this regard. It\u2019s still unclear if the season will be two completely distinct stories that happen to be told back to back, or if there will be any connective tissue between them. At the end of the day, that doesn\u2019t matter.
