This was Apple\u2019s most profitable spring quarter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>What\u2019s an Apple quarterly result with the words \u201cthe most profitable quarter ever\u201d in some context? Apple earned $81.6 billion in revenue (up 36% year-on-year), and recorded $21.7 billion profit.\u00a0<span>These numbers make it the most<\/span>\u00a0successful April-June quarter in the company\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_The_iPhone_12_is_a_hit_and_other_hardware_is_also_doing_well\"><\/span>2. The iPhone 12 is a hit (and other hardware is also doing well)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Apple stopped reporting\u00a0iPhone sales numbers more than two years ago. However, the company said that it registered a 50% growth in sales year-on-year with more people buying computing devices in the pandemic. The total worth of those sales? Chip shortage effects are real<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Apple\u2019s CFO, Luca\u00a0<span>Maestri, had warned in April that the global chip shortage could hurt sales by around $4 billion. However, the number ended up being less than $3 billion. In April, the company had said that iPad and Mac production <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/4\/8\/22373281\/chip-shortage-apple-macbook-ipad-delay-nikkei\">took an impact<\/a> because of the chip shortage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But the company issued a caution, that because of this global problem, the growth rate might not be sustainable. This resulted in Apple shares dipping by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/apple-aapl-3q-earnings-report-2021-11627347443\">2% in after-hours trading<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Apples_services_business_is_going_strong\"><\/span>4. Apple\u2019s services business is going strong<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Apple began its services push in 2019, and it\u2019s seemingly paying off. The firm registered $17.9 billion in revenue in the last quarter with a massive 33% growth.
