A Colorado police officer is facing criminal charges after pistol-whipping, choking and threatening to shoot an unarmed man who had a warrant out for his arrest, cops said.<\/p>\n

Body camera footage released Tuesday<\/a> shows Aurora Police Officer John Haubert responding to a trespassing call Friday and confronting one of three men who had outstanding felony warrants. Two others ran off as Haubert app<\/a>roached, the clip shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoa, what did I do?\u201d the man asks Haubert as he\u2019s pushed backward onto his back. \u201cWhoa, what the hell did I do, dude?\u201d<\/p>\n

Haubert then orders the man \u2014 who was ultimately not criminally charged \u2014 onto his stomach while the man pleads not to be shot. The officer proceeds to put his duty pistol to the man\u2019s head before striking him with the weapon multiple times, the footage shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re killing me, you\u2019re killing me, bro,\u201d the bloodied man responds as he struggles with Haubert and another officer, Francine Martinez.<\/p>\n

Haubert then chokes the man as he pleads for help, saying he \u201cdidn\u2019t do anything\u201d or try to run away, the footage shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you move, I will shoot you,\u201d Haubert says. \u201cDo not move. Stop fighting!\u201d<\/p>\n

The man is handcuffed as he pleads for water, video shows. He was not charged in the incident, according to the Denver Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson told reporters Tuesday<\/a> that Haubert has been charged with attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault and felony menacing in the incident. Martinez was also charged for not intervening to try to stop Haubert during the arrest.<\/p>\n

The officers, who surrendered to police, have since bonded out of jail, a frustrated Wilson told reporters while showing the \u201cdisturbing\u201d police footage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis video will shock your conscience<\/a>,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cIt is very disturbing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson said the officers approached the man after finding out he had a warrant out for his arrest while responding to a trespassing call. She characterized Haubert\u2019s conduct as a \u201cvery despicable act\u201d not aligned with Aurora police.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re disgusted,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re angry. This is not police work. We don\u2019t train this. It\u2019s not acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The man, who was wanted on a probation violation, was later taken to a hospital for a welt and a cut on his head that required six stitches. Wilson said he likely didn\u2019t know he was wanted on a warrant out of Denver.<\/p>\n

An attorney for Haubert, meanwhile, declined to comment aside to say that he will be \u201czealously defending\u201d the officer in court.<\/p>\n

Both Haubert and Martinez were placed on leave following their arrest, the Denver Post reported.<\/p>\n
