Stanfield would play a widower-turned-tour guide, while Haddish would play a psychic who can contact the dead. This is Disney\u2019s second attempt to turn the attraction into a film \u2013 Eddie Murphy starred in a\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> movie back in 2003. That movie wasn\u2019t exactly a flop, but it didn\u2019t inspire anywhere near the positive reaction of Disney\u2019s other 2003 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a> park ride-turned film,\u00a0<em>Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/disney-haunted-mansion-tiffany-haddish-lakeith-stanfield-1234989442\/\">THR<\/a> has a report that Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield are in talks to join the\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> reboot cast. The report says the film will follow \u201ca family that moves into the titular mansion,\u201d with Stanfield playing \u201ca widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans\u2019s French Quarter,\u201d and Haddish portraying a \u201cpsychic hired to commune with the dead.\u201d<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Justin Simien, who helmed\u00a0<em>Dear White People<\/em>, is set to direct a screenplay from <strong>Katie Dippold<\/strong>. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback are producing and Rideback\u2019s Nick Reynolds is executive producing. It\u2019s unclear what the tone of this new\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> will be, but it certainly sounds like it\u2019s shaping up to have comedic elements \u2013 which is the same approach the 2003 Eddie Murphy movie took, with not-great results.<\/p>\n<p>While I understand the need to make a Disney movie appeal to wider (translation: family) audiences, there\u2019s a part of me that really wishes a\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> movie would tone down the jokes and lean into the horror. I\u2019m not saying we need an ultra-gory R-rated\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> horror movie. But there\u2019s a way to balance genuine scares with a more accessible tone. Hell, Disney has done this themselves already, so there\u2019s no reason they can\u2019t try it here. And there\u2019s a chance they might! The original attraction launched in 1969 at Disneyland, where it resides in\u00a0New Orleans Square. It\u2019s a spooky, fun ride that takes you through a giant haunted house, and while I\u2019m by no means a theme park guy, I love the Haunted Mansion. I love it so much that I really wish Disney would spend a fortune to franchise it and set up a Haunted Mansion in every state around Halloween time. Would that be extremely costly and probably not turn a profit? Sure! They should do it anyway. They\u2019ve got the money.<\/p>\n<p>While Justin Simien is currently running the show for the new\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> movie, he\u2019s not the first filmmaker to gravitate towards the project. For a while there, Guillermo del Toro was interested in making his own\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> movie. But like a lot of del Toro dream projects, it never came to pass \u2013 although del Toro did get to make a\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> movie of his own with\u00a0<em>Crimson Peak<\/em>. I like Simien\u2019s work and I\u2019m curious to see what he does with this property, but I\u2019ll always wish del Toro had gotten his chance. Oh well.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Simien and company hope to start shooting their\u00a0<em>Haunted Mansion<\/em> movie in\u00a0Louisiana this fall.
