“#Dylan McDermott Returning in a Different Capacity<\/strong>”

Mobster Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott<\/a>) will continue to be a thorn in Detective Elliot Stabler\u2019s (Christopher Meloni<\/a>) side in Law & Order: Organized Crime<\/em> Season 2, just in a different capacity.<\/p>\n

McDermott is returning to the SVU<\/em> spinoff, but in \u201ca major recurring role,\u201d not as the series<\/a> regular he was in Season 1, according to Deadline<\/em><\/a>. He will reportedly app<\/a>ear in eight episodes.<\/p>\n

That fits with the finale and<\/em> the teases we got for Season 2 in April. At the end of Season 1, Richard was locked up and about to be put on trial for the murder of Elliot\u2019s wife Kathy (Isabel Gillies<\/a>) but still<\/em> managed to move some pieces into place for a plan that seemingly has yet to come to fruition. He had his wife send a message (\u201cO, I\u2019m in trouble. Can you please come meet me?\u201d) to Elliot\u2019s former partner, Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay<\/a>), after realizing just what she means to his nemesis.<\/p>\n

As a result, Olivia was at the hospital when Elliot and Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Mon\u00e9 Truitt) were visiting Richard\u2019s ex-wife, Angela (Tamara Taylor), who he\u2019d poisoned. She also witnessed Bell have to shoot one of her detectives, Morales (Michael Rivera), who\u2019d been paid to inject Angela with something. We\u2019ll have to wait to see if Angela survives. But what exactly Richard meant to accomplish by having Olivia \u2014 who he called \u201cthe one true love of [Elliot\u2019s] life\u201d \u2014 at that scene is unclear. With him returning, perhaps we\u2019ll get that answer.<\/p>\n

Plus, we have a feeling that no matter how that trial goes, Richard\u2019s not done messing with Elliot. (McDermott and Meloni are just too good in scenes together to not have more.) He\u2019s still a formidable threat, whether he\u2019s walking free or behind bars. Something tells us we\u2019ll see that more than we have yet with his return set.<\/p>\n

That eight-episode return also makes sense given Dick Wolf sharing that Season 2 will be split into three arcs, each that long.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first third of the season is The Godfather<\/em>. The second third is American Gangster<\/em>. And the last third is Scarface<\/em>,\u201d he\u2019d said. \u201cThese villains are going to be really bad guys that give Chris a constant source of energy, outrage, belief in justice, and a different way of pursuing criminals than we\u2019ve had before.\u201d<\/p>\n
