\n Federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case of alleged MS-13 gang leader and murderer Alexi Saenz. If these crimes don\u2019t merit the ultimate sanction, nothing does.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say Saenz led the Long Island chapter of MS-13 out of Brentwood \u2014 and ordered, among other murders, the 2016 killings of high-school students Nisa Mickens, 15, and Kayla Cuevas, 16, after Cuevas argued with gang members.<\/p>\n

The murders were senseless, gruesome and truly evil. Gang members beat the girls with baseball bats then slashed them with machetes \u2014 all allegedly with Saenz\u2019s app<\/a>roval.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re no fans of the death penalty, but some cases call out for it. Anyone who would order or carry out so brutal a murder has lost the right even to rot away in prison for the rest of his life.<\/p>\n

Now, federal, state and county authorities must bolster efforts to eradicate MS-13 completely from Long Island \u2014 lest another monster take over and continue the reign of terror.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
