It\u2019s the maskiest place on earth. <\/p>\n

In response to the nationwide resurgence in COVID cases, both California\u2019s Disneyland and Florida\u2019s Disney World are reinstating their park-wide mask mandates. The policy comes just over a month after both parks<\/a> dropped their PPE requirements due to then-dwindling infection rates.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are adapting our health and safety guidelines based on guidance from health and government officials,\u201d the company announced Wednesday of the new PPE rules, the Orange County Register reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Starting Friday, July 30, both the Orlando and Anaheim resorts will require cast members and guests over age 2 to wear face coverings indoors \u201cregardless of vaccination status,\u201d per the initiative. PPE will not be required in common outdoor common areas, per the measure. <\/p>\n

The policy shift comes after the\u00a0US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its mask rules in response to a nationwide uptick in coronavirus cases, especially the alarming new Delta variant of the disease. They now recommend\u00a0that vaccinated people wear masks indoors in areas of \u201chigh\u201d or \u201csubstantial\u201d risk of COVID-19 transmission. <\/p>\n

Currently, Florida boasts more COVID cases than any other state, recording a mind-boggling average of 10,452 new cases each day over the past week alone, CNN reported Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n

On Monday, the mayor of Florida\u2019s Orange County \u2014 where Disney World and Universal Studios are located \u2014 warned at a\u00a0press conference<\/a>\u00a0that the region is in \u201ccrisis mode\u201d as cases surged.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese numbers are extraordinary,\u201d Mayor Jerry Demings warned. \u201cWe are seeing nearly 1,000 new cases in Orange County daily. Those are the numbers we saw at the highest peak last year.\u201d<\/p>\n
