The \u201cKaren\u201d meme is back, and it\u2019s funnier than ever. <\/p>\n

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are currently well underway but that doesn\u2019t stop the fact that people are already talking about the 2024 game<\/a>s. The next cycle of the Olympics is set to be held in Paris, and while the logo was released back in October 2019, fans can\u2019t help but roast the design again.<\/p>\n

The logo is very reminiscent of the \u201cKaren\u201d meme<\/a> \u2014 a caucasian woman with a short haircut who always \u201cneeds to speak to the manager.\u201d The Parisian emblem is meant to depict three symbols: the Olympic flame, a gold medal and the hair and lips of Marianne, the personification of France since the 1789 revolution. She represents liberty, equality and fraternity<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This week, in the midst of the 2020 Olympic Games, jokes about the logo resurfaced on social media<\/a>. \u201cFeels like a good time to remind the timeline that Paris 2024 had literally the perfect logo that represented the number 24 and the Eiffel Tower, and then bombed it off for a logo that looks like a dating app<\/a> for middle-aged women who yell at baristas,\u201d one user tweeted<\/a> alongside two of the emblem designs.<\/p>\n

The current design took a year and a half to create and will be used for both the Olympics and Paralympics. It\u2019s a big change from the colorful Eiffel Tower graphic<\/a> used in France\u2019s bid to host the 2024 games.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course you\u2019re all wrong! Paris 2024 logo is based on Victoria Beckham in 2007,\u201d another critic chimed in<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cU telling me that #Paris2024<\/a> logo is the #Karen<\/a> haircut?!\u201d another user said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another fan tweeted<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019m convinced that the Paris 2024 logo is a Karen.\u201d One joked<\/a>, \u201cIf @Paris2024<\/a> don\u2019t do a compilation of all the best memes about the logo for in their opening ceremony I\u2019ll be extremely disappointed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The last time the City of Love, French wine and baguettes with jam hosted the athletic games was back in 1924. Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant, chair of the International Olympic Committee Coordination Commission, previously explained the design choice to the BBC<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe combination of the gold medal, the Olympic flame, and Marianne brings together the values, history, and French touch that will make these Olympic Games truly special,\u201d he said. \u201cI believe that this innovative design will be quickly recognized around the world and be a wonderful calling card for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
