But I bear no resemblance to these people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The unidentified woman told the outlet she now has to \u201cwork at relaxing,\u201d in a town that is \u201ca different place now. It\u2019s the age of entitlement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The local reportedly said she lives near a house owned by \u201cone of those hedge fund guys\u201d that had a new \u201cenormous\u201d fully-grown tree planted on the property day after day, and stopped to quiz the landscapers on the cost of the project. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey said they thought $50,000 to $75,000 a day,\u201d she said, according to the article. \u201cI would suspect it\u2019s closer to $100,000.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I weren\u2019t here already, I wouldn\u2019t come now. The conspicuous consumption is just gross.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another local, Heidi Wald, who has summered out east since childhood, told the magazine that cold hard currency is now literally littered on East Hampton\u2019s main beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI looked down, as I\u2019m always looking for sea glass, and there was a perfect crisp $50 bill on the shore. I thought, Only in the Hamptons,\u201d Heidi Wald reportedly said.<\/p>\n<p>Kathryn Kellinger, another longtime local, told the magazine the beach community is no longer relaxed because of insane costs and a snobby \u201clevel of judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so expensive, there\u2019s no more livability. It\u2019s all about tablescaping and costuming,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s fever pitch now. The amount of people, and the amount of fun they insist on having\u2014it\u2019s gotten more scheduled than New York City.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A 25-year-old told the outlet how she and 30 friends pooled together $3,000 each to rent a house in Montauk for a month, a cost that paled in comparison to the price of the town\u2019s entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTables are absurd,\u201d she reportedly said. \u201cI\u2019ve had friends who have ended the night with $7,000 bar bills.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The woman said she once spent $60 on a one-mile Uber <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>, while another told the magazine about $600-plus rides between hamlets due to demand from \u201ctourists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prices like that make the reported $88 lobster Cobb salad at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/duryeas.com\/pages\/duryeas-montauk-menu\">Duryea\u2019s<\/a> in Montauk seem reasonable, but even light lunches that leave you hungry can cost three figures in the area\u2019s ritzy restaurants.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" alt=\"One resident of the Hamptons said that Uber prices have risen due to the demands of &quot;tourists&quot; that come to the area.\" class=\"wp-image-18968945 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-810833506.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-810833506.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-810833506.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-810833506.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-810833506.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2048 2048w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>One resident of the Hamptons said that Uber prices have risen due to the demands of \u201ctourists\u201d that come to the area.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Paul Bruinooge\/Patrick McMullan<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe bill was $300 for four people, and we didn\u2019t have any alcohol,\u201d said a woman who told Vanity Fair she thinks prices were much higher at a Bridgehampton eatery this year. \u201cWe had two iced teas, a fris\u00e9e salad, Caesar salads with chicken, and some oysters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One local said they\u2019ve even driven an hour inland on Long Island for much more affordable groceries, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Even as some Suffolk County locals struggle to keep up with the new Jones, certain newbies are looking to put down roots in the seaside sanctuary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWould love to see some of Manhattan folks that are spending more time out East to run for public office,\u201d a recent <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/search\/top\/?q=Hamptons%20moms\">post on a Hamptons moms Facebook group<\/a> reportedly read.<\/p>\n<p> \u201c\u2026Homes range from 5,000,000 to 150,000,000.
