There may be a lot of fish in the sea, but there\u2019s only one Amber Heard. The actress will not be fired from the upcoming DC flick \u201cAquaman 2\u201d despite ongoing pressure from ex-husband Johnny Depp\u2019s fans.<\/p>\n

The superhero film\u2019s producer, Peter Safran, shut down speculation that Heard, 35, would be cut in an interview with Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think that we\u2019re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure. You gotta do what you feel is best for the movie. We felt that if it\u2019s James Wan and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That\u2019s really what it was,\u201d Safran said.<\/p>\n

Wan directed Heard and Momoa, 41, in 2018\u2019s \u201cAquaman,\u201d which earned<\/a> roughly $1.14 billion at the box office. The Hawaiian native played the title character and Heard portrayed his love interest, Mera.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, one is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter<\/a>-verse, but that doesn\u2019t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes,\u201d Safran added. \u201cYou have to do what you feel is right for the film, and that\u2019s really where we landed on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The official title for the action-packed, water-filled sequel is \u201cAquaman and the Lost Kingdom.\u201d The film is currently in production<\/a> and scheduled for a theatrical release on Dec. 16, 2022.<\/p>\n

A Change.org<\/a> petition to kick \u201cThe Danish Girl\u201d star off the franchise surfaced in November 2020. As of today, the online app<\/a>eal has garnered over 1.8 million signatures. <\/p>\n

Heard and Depp, 58, were married from 2015 until their divorce was finalized in 2017. Divorce proceedings were extremely contentious, as she accused the \u201cPirates of the Caribbean\u201d actor of abuse. She was granted a temporary restraining order and the LAPD found no evidence of abuse at the time. <\/p>\n

In 2019, Depp alleged that Heard abused him and he then filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard. Last year, Depp lost his libel suit against British tabloid the Sun, which had reported he was abusive toward his ex-wife. The publication called Depp a \u201cwife-beater\u201d in an article detailing the ex-couple\u2019s marital situation. <\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Sun said\u00a0the paper had \u201cstood up and campaigned for the victims of domestic abuse<\/a>\u00a0for over twenty years.\u201d The rep continued, \u201cDomestic abuse victims must never be silenced and we thank the Judge for his careful consideration and thank Amber Heard for her courage in giving evidence to the court.\u201d\n <\/div>\n
