Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon\u00a0Musk\u00a0on Friday showed his support for Fortnite maker Epic Game<\/a>s that has challenged Apple\u2019s fees on its App Store.<\/p>\n

\u201cApple app store fees are a de facto global tax on the Internet. Epic is right,\u201d he said in a tweet<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Apple is battling a lawsuit filed last year by Epic Games, alleging that the iPhone maker has abused its dominance in the market for mobile apps. Epic broke Apple\u2019s rules when it introduced its own in-app payment system in Fortnite to circumvent Apple\u2019s commissions.<\/p>\n

Apple, which has defended its App Store practices both in court and to lawmakers in hearings, did not immedia<\/a>tely respond to a Reuters request for comment.<\/p>\n

Separately,\u00a0Musk\u00a0denied a report<\/a> that he once had a chat with Apple boss Tim Cook related to a possible acquisition of the electric carmaker and taking over as the iPhone maker\u2019s CEO. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a point where I requested to meet with Cook to talk about Apple buying Tesla. There were no conditions of acquisition proposed whatsoever. He refused to meet,\u201d\u00a0Musk\u00a0said in another tweet. <\/p>\n

On Tesla\u2019s call with Wall Street analysts earlier this week,\u00a0Musk\u00a0took shots at Apple, criticizing the company\u2019s \u201cwalled garden\u201d or its tightly controlled tech ecosystem and its usage of cobalt, a key mineral for making lithium-ion batteries.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
