“#Kurt Cobain childhood home now a landmark, will be an exhibit<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Come as you are to this piece of rock \u2018n\u2019 roll history.<\/p>\n

Kurt Cobain\u2019s childhood home in Washington\u00a0state has been unanimously app<\/a>roved by the\u00a0Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation to be turned into a landmark.<\/p>\n

Now considered historically significant, the modest 1,500-square-foot home where the late rocker grew up is expected to become an exhibit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fans will be able to\u00a0travel<\/a> back in time to see the house where the iconic rock star grew up \u2014 discovering the home as it was left when he lived there.<\/p>\n

Cobain lived in the one-and-a-half-story house in Aberdeen from 1968 to 1984.<\/p>\n

Lee Bacon \u2013 who currently\u00a0owns the home \u2014 revealed to Rolling Stone<\/a> that his plans are \u201c90 to 95% complete\u201d in re-creating the house and returning it to its prime vintage state.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Neighborhood zoning regulations will prevent the residence from becoming a full-time museum, but Bacon is surveying ways to open the\u00a0home up this spring for the occasional private tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to make the house a tribute project to Kurt\u2019s early life and career, with museum detail,\u201d he told the\u00a0magazine. \u201cThe next chapter is how to make that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bacon and his wife Danielle had purchased the home from the Cobain family in 2018 for $225,000.<\/p>\n

Cobain\u2019s sister, Kim Cobain, is also getting a say in the exhibit\u2019s display.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoy being involved and providing my input. I am very happy and supportive that Lee and Dani took this on three years ago,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Also in the works is a plaque for the front of the house, which Bacon feels will be especially important as time moves further\u00a0away from Nirvana\u2019s height of stardom and Cobain\u2019s 1994 death.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to write it for someone in the future, 20 years from now, who wants to learn about Kurt,\u201d Bacon says. \u201cWe want it to be for someone who doesn\u2019t know who he was or the contributions he made.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cobain, who was married to Courtney Love, committed\u00a0suicide on April 5, 1994. A high concentration of heroin and traces of diazepam were also found in his body at the time.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
