\n NBC\u2019s long-running crime drama \u201cLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit\u201d will take on police brutality to highlight the death of George Floyd and the anti-cop demonstrations engulfing America\u2019s streets.<\/p>\n

Executive producer Warren Leight laid out his plans on The Hollywood Reporter \u201cTV\u2019s Top 5\u201d podcast, telling the hosts that Floyd\u2019s death \u201chas to come up and it will,\u201d Fox News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are ways, we will find our way in to tell the story,\u201d Leight told listeners. \u201cPresumably our cops will still be trying to do the right thing but it\u2019s going to be harder for them and they\u2019re going to understand why it\u2019s hard for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leight also talked about how he will switch up the show\u2019s writers \u201cto bring in new voices, fresh voices, different voices.\u201d He didn\u2019t detail the changes.<\/p>\n

In the past year, Leight told the hosts, the crime drama, which premiered in 1999, has \u201ctried really hard in the last year to show how class and race affect the outcomes of justice in society.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed out, though, that he suspects \u201c\u2018really hard\u2019 wasn\u2019t enough,\u201d Fox News reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has to be a moment where people make themselves uncomfortable \u2014 where people in power have to make themselves uncomfortable,\u201d he said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
