The Issue: Mayor de Blasio\u2019s plan to pay $100 to every person who gets a vaccine at a city location.<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Biden\u2019s and Mayor de Blasio\u2019s well-intentioned plans to reward pandemic-of-the-unvaccinated holdouts with $100 bribes to save their own lives may backfire when greedy anti-vaxxers further postpone getting jabbed until the \u201cjackpot\u201d is desperately raised to $200, $300 or even $1,000 (\u201c\u200a\u2018Bill\u2019 de Blasio,\u201d July 29).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, public-spirited Americans who once spent weeks online (sometimes in the middle of the night) trying to obtain app<\/a>ointments to get vaccinated to help the country begin to reach herd immunity were only rewarded with \u201cI got vaccinated\u201d stickers for their patriotic efforts.<\/p>\n

Back in January and February, I \u2014 like millions of others \u2014 logged on to the Internet at all hours of the day and night to secure a coveted vaccine appointment.<\/p>\n

Now, because so many will not get vaccinated, we still have to wear a mask and President Biden wants to use our tax money to pay people to be vaccinated, while millions of us did it because it was the right thing to do.<\/p>\n

The worst part is the precedent this sets. The next time the government wants us to take some kind of action, many people will just wait and see how high the bribe will be.<\/p>\n

So now de Blasio will be giving $100 to everyone who gets a COVID vaccination.<\/p>\n

I got my shot a couple of months ago and had to struggle to find a vaccination center for my wife and myself.<\/p>\n

Countless online inquiries and calls to the city vaccine hotline didn\u2019t help. So where do I go to get my $100 dollars for complying early?<\/p>\n

The Issue: The Centers for Disease Control\u2019s report on the rise of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Centers for Disease Control confirm that the COVID Delta variant can easily infect the vaccinated, and although the vaccinated may not display symptoms, they can still easily infect the unvaccinated with the most severe infections (\u201cJust vax and relax!\u201d July 30).<\/p>\n

Simply stated, there is no safe harbor for the unvaccinated. I don\u2019t want to infect anyone even though I\u2019m vaccinated, so I guess I\u2019m back to wearing masks.<\/p>\n

As shown by The Post\u2019s statistics, the chance of a vaccinated person becoming seriously ill from the Delta variant is about the same as being hurt by a falling brick while taking a walk.<\/p>\n

This is not a medical issue, it\u2019s a political one. Our leaders would rather talk about an invisible virus than deal with their very visible lack of leadership on issues like the border.<\/p>\n
