After gaining fame for hits like Can\u2019t Feel My Face <\/em>and The Hills<\/em>, the singer has officially quit partying. At least, the hardcore kind. Speaking to GQ<\/em> in an interview published Monday, the musician (born Abel Tesfaye<\/strong>) discussed in detail the exact reason he\u2019s now living the \u201csober lite\u201d life \u2014 meaning he still smokes weed and enjoys the occasional drink. Sounds pretty similar to another celebrity we know\u2026<\/p>\n

Discussing this update, the performer told the outlet:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a heavy drinker, as much as I used to be. The romance of drinking isn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But saying goodbye to drugs proved to be harder than alcohol. The decision was inevitable once he made a startling revelation, explaining:<\/p>\n

\u201cDrugs were a crutch. It was me thinking that I needed it. And not doing the work to figure out how not to need it. And I\u2019ve spent the last few years realizing that and thanking God that I don\u2019t need it. Because for a lot of people, it\u2019s hard to shake it. But I knew I didn\u2019t want it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There\u2019s good news<\/a> for Angelina Jolie<\/strong>, whom the performer is rumored to be dating, as well! A huge reason Abel wanted to get sober was for his future children:<\/p>\n

\u201cI eventually want a family. I know I say I don\u2019t, but I know I do. I want children.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When questioned about why he\u2019d say he didn\u2019t want kids, the star mused:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI guess I say it because I like the trajectory of my career. But also I feel like having children would influence me and inspire me more.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While this latest interview may be the first time the Starboy<\/em> sensation has opened up about wanting a family, it\u2019s not the first time he\u2019s chatted about his drug use or his waning desire to get high. Since 2016, the Canadian has referenced feeling a bit unamused by drugs. In a convo with The Guardian<\/em>, the pop star said he \u201cdibbles and dabbles and whatnot\u201d with substances less frequently, sharing:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I had nothing to do but make music, it was very heavy. Drugs were a crutch for me. There were songs on my first record that were seven minutes long, rambling\u2014whatever thoughts I was having when I was under the influence at the time. I can\u2019t see myself doing that now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And now that he\u2019s been spending so much time with the Maleficent <\/em>actress\u00a0and her children, he can\u2019t see drugs in his future at all<\/em>! By February 2020, the Blinding Lights<\/em> vocalist was already sharing insight into his changed reality, telling CR Men<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI have an off-and-on relationship with [drugs]. It doesn\u2019t consume my life but occasionally helps me open up my mind, especially when I\u2019m creating, but when I perform I\u2019m completely sober and try not to even drink. I\u2019ve learned to balance thanks to touring.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
