Griffin revels in picking fights with A-list celebrities and controversial politicians \u2014 but now <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/08\/02\/kathy-griffin-diagnosed-with-lung-cancer-despite-never-smoking\/\">she\u2019s in the fight of her life<\/a> against cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The 60-year-old was in surgery Monday to remove a tumor from her lung, two weeks after she got the shocking diagnosis \u2014 made even more surprising because she has never smoked.<\/p>\n<p>The veteran standup comic \u2014 and infamously proud Emmy and Grammy winner \u2014 broke the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> in a detailed post on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kathygriffin\/status\/1422169088793579520\">social media <\/a>this morning, writing: \u201cThe doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adding that she didn\u2019t think she\u2019d need chemotherapy or radiation after the operation, she said, \u201cI should be up and running as usual in a month or less.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a bombshell interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/kathy-griffin-shes-recovering-addict-now-hopes-beat\/story?id=79173454\">ABC\u2019s \u201cNightline\u201d<\/a> secretly recorded last week and set to broadcast Monday night, Griffin recalled how she felt upon first hearing her cancer news.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"\/>\n<p>\u201cI was definitely in shock,\u201d she told interviewer Juju Chang. \u201cI\u2019m still a little bit in shock. Not a denial, but\u2026once a day, I\u2019ll just turn to, like, nobody next to me and go, \u2018Can you believe this s\u2013t? Is this a bitch or what?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t her only battle this year. She called him out for his behavior in front of her family when she reached her 20s and he admitted his crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Later, she said she was \u201cafraid of him until the moment he died\u201d and, possibly as a consequence of her ordeal, she developed a binge eating disorder. Remarkably, she quit after filming just seven episodes.<\/p>\n<p>The implication was that her co-hosts, including rail-thin Giuliana Rancic, were guilty of body shaming. She blamed the end of her four-month stint in 2007 as co-host of \u201cThe View\u201d on \u201ca ban\u201d imposed by daring to spill details about the show on a TV comedy special. Although she issued an apology on social media and during a tearful press conference \u2014 \u201cThe image is too disturbing,\u201d she said. \u201cI understand how it offends people\u2026I beg for your forgiveness.\u201d \u2014 the damage was done.<\/p>\n<p>She was investigated by the US Secret Service and Trump came for her guns blazing. I started really convincing myself it was a good idea,\u201d Griffin said. \u201cI got my living revocable trust in order. I had all my ducks in a row, I wrote the note \u2014 the whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mercifully, her husband and doctor helped her get treatment and she began her recovery. \u201cThe detox was nasty,\u201d she told Chang. \u201cI mean, it was months.
